We Met in a Bar

my first time…

Ok, so last week myself, my mother and 4 of my maids went to Costa Mesa to the bridal salon Mon Amie to try on dresses.  The salon is beautiful and they have so so so many dresses. The day we went was the first day of their Jim Hjelm  trunk show. Background on this: a friend of Bryans went to Mon Amie for a trunk show and walked out with a dress for only $500, way less than the original price. So I went into the store thinking that the dresses would be, like, half off since you take home the sample dress as is. Here are the two favorite of the day, and I would gladly wear either one down the aisle.

This one my mother made me try on, and she was right (as always) and I loved it.

This one fit perfectly, the lace is very me. And according to Lisa it made my butt look amazing.

Once I had them on and had already fallen in love, the salesgirl told me the (special!) trunk show price. Ready? 10% off. Of $3,000. And if I bought it that day they would throw in a Ralph Lauren tux. So $2,700 for a dress and a tux… tempting. But considering our entire bride/groom attire budget is $1,000 (including shoes, veil, everything) I reluctantly had to say no.  Helpful hint for bride-to-be’s: don’t fall in love with a dress that isn’t in the budget. Here’s to finding a gorgeous dress, in budget, that I love just as much!

The lace one is stunning! They both are but I have a real weakness for lace.

3 knock off!!!!!!! — We Met in a Bar { 11.24.08 at 4:57 pm }

[...] I just found out that my Davids Bridal dress is a knock off! I am sure most are, but I had no idea. My first dress shopping experience I fell in love with 2 Jim Hjelm dresses, neither of which is the knock off. You can see those dresses here. [...]
