Conflict free diamonds?

Does anyone out there know anything about the Diamond company Brilliant Earth? I like the idea of buying conflict free and they have what we want, but I am wary of buying our rings online. Any advice?

We got our wedding bands online (we used Sky Facet, which has more of a “promise” of being conflict-free). I would recommend getting your rings online, because at the least, you’ll save yourself a bunch in sales tax, and usually on the price of the diamonds. If you’re getting smaller diamonds, you won’t notice smaller imperfections as much, anyway. If you know what you want, you might want to try it on in the store to get the right size, and we held off on engraving until after we got them to make sure we didn’t void the return warranty.

I have heard many consumers say that they would have purchased a sustainable ring, or at least conflict-free, if they knew where to go. The movement toward jewelry with minial social and environmental impact hasn’t quite gained enough momentum to affect mainstream jewelers that much. Newer retailers such as Brilliant Earth and C5 company are not only carrying sustainable jewelry, but are keeping overhead costs low by selling online. They are reputable companies and need the support of consumers to help drive change in the industry.

My fiance and I ordered my ring from Nexxus. It’s not a mined diamond, but a lab manufactured diamond so it’s the same chemical makeup as a diamond. He proposed in January, so the ring has been on my hand since then. I love it! It’s beautiful, and no one who sees’s it believes me when I tell them that it was made in a lab. The only difference is that there aren’t any flaws. I’ve been a little rough on it (forgetting to take it off when I went rock climbing) and there has only been minimal wear to the band, and no issues with the stone. It was also inexpensive (my 1 carat stong cost a little more than $300). Because we are both in school, and saving up to buy a house, we just couldn’t justify spending a lot of money on the ring. So this way worked out perfect for us, and I would reccomend it to anyone!
