We Met in a Bar

Crabs, camping, guest book and gown preservation. whew.

Ok, so my mind is reeling right now, so pardon me if this seems a little scattered to you!

First, I had a brilliant idea for our guest book, but I have to pass it by Bryan to see if it is as brilliant as I think it is before getting too excited :)

Second, holy moly. I read this post on weddingbee about what to do with your gown before the wedding, and now I am flipping out. I didn’t event think about storing it carefully before the wedding. Right now it is hanging up in my sisters room in the plastic DB bag it came in… hanging… with sunlight… and it is lace… why didn’t i think about this?! So now I need to find an acid free box or something and properly store it so that my beloved dress is just as beloved 10 months from now!  Did you get your dress super early too? What have you done with it to preserve it until the wedding? Or did you, like me, totally forget about that detail and are freaking out right now?

Oh the ups and downs of this whole process!  Anyways, happy Friday! I am so excited for this weekend! Tomorrow Bryan and I will be attending a friends annual crab feast, where they fly in crabs from maryland and we spend the day, well, feasting on crabs, crabcakes, and these little dessert things, also from maryland, mmm. I will be sure to get some good crab-hammering action photos for you guys :) Then Sunday I am off to meet up with my parents who are camping down towards San Diego. Sadly Bryan can’t come, but I am so excited to get some down time, some s’mores, and some good old bonding time with my parents and cousins!

UPDATE: crisis adverted! I bought this archival box from the container store! whew.

I will be back on Tuesday with photos, a clear head, and some more great wedding inspiration!

Here are some vintage etsy finds to inspire over the weekend :)

i bought my dress super early too and it was a while before i found out that it shouldnt be stored in my DB bag that they sold me for $10. Anyways, I ended up just taking it out of the DB bag and wrapping it in a white sheet and storing it under my bed. it was just fine and i’ll be wearing it in about 4 weeks!!!

I had mine hanging up, in a plastic bag for 6 months before the wedding exposed to the horror of daylight. And it was fine. No mildew, no dust, no nothing. Just like when I bought it.

Hey girl! Just came across your blog and as a former bride, no worries about the dress issue! :) 10 months of sun exposure is not going to do much. I would not worry about it ;) Now if it were sitting in direct sunlight for a few years… Out of all the brides we have worked with, getting a dress too early and having it not protected properly has never been an issue. Hope that helps and have fun!!

OH MY! The canisters On the bottom left I own! My set has a few more. I have, from largest to smallest-Flour, Sugar, Coffee, tea, and grease. Yes, grease!! I love my set, it’s so unique. I actually use each of them for their intended purpose. Well, except grease, that one has popcorn. =)
