J Crew Day, #1
Um, they put new stuff up….

None of it in my colors of course… that would be too easy. Darn you Martha for introducing me to grey and marigold! (Stay tuned for #2 and #3! Especially #3 because it will require your participation)

what to do, what to do.
Ok, so the original plan was my only boy cousin, A, would be ring bearer, and my two youngest girl cousins, K & H, would be flower girls. That plan changed when the church told us that tossing flower petals was a big no-no. So what to do with K & H? I thought about junior bridesmaids, but that doesn’t really make sense because then the question would be “why them”. It worked as flower girls but junior bridesmaids… hmm… So I have thought of a few options.
All three could walk down together, with A holding the rings and K & H holding flowers or something like this:

(i’m sorry i forgot where I found this, if it is yours please let me know!)
And then somewhere I read about having a child carry a little sign that says “Here Comes the Bride” and I think that that has some real potential! Maybe have the banner on a pole with each girl holding an end…
Do you plan on having your flower girls do something other than carry flowers? I am open to all ideas!!
UPDATE: As I spoke with our church’s wedding coordinator for the first time tonight, we came to flower girls and she is all ” some have the girls carry these… well.. they look like styrofoam balls with flowers in it… They just look awful, I don’t see any beauty in those.” haha granted she is in her 70’s, but still, it was awesome. I don’t think I was going to have them, but now for Eloise, the pomanders are out

mm mm good
Friday night Bryan and I were driving through San Clemente trying to think of where to go for dinner and as we drove passed VINE we looked at each other and said “let’s get it and split the cost.” We sat at the bar, watched the Olympics and had an amazing meal! The best fruit and cheese plate, dinners of chicken in wine sauce and probably the best fish and chips ever (it was made with halibut!), finished it all off with a chocolate souffle… mmm I am craving it right now!

We were first introduced to VINE last Christmas when Bryan’s friend Amanda had her wedding reception there. It was there that Bryan and I decided we wanted out wedding to feel like theirs, to be different than what people think of when they hear ‘wedding’, and it was there that we had one of the best. meals. ever.
So good that we went back soon after for one of their Wednesday Night Wine Tasting’s. Four courses, four wines, and the owner personally explains each wine to you. The flavors, the history, everything.

The food is amazing, the wine is just as good, and combined with a staff who is always smiling and the husband-wife owners who are oh-so-sweet, it is one of our favorite restaurants.
I wanted to tell you all about it, because for a small wedding (less than 50) or for a rehearsal dinner, it is the perfect location. If you are looking for something in the Southern Orange County area for either event, do not forget about VINE. You won’t be disappointed

matthew morgan photography
I haven’t talked about this tidbit of my life yet, but aside from my design job I do some freelance editing work for a wedding photographer friend of mine, Matthew Morgan. It is such a great experience, editing wedding pictures while planning my wedding. You only ever see a handful of someone’s wedding pictures, and it is a blast to see every image from start to finish, and to see how different brides have such different and unique weddings!
Some of the latest ones I have worked on are still making their way to their brides, so I have taken some (ok, a lot) of my favorite images from his blog.

There you have it, my favorites
Matthew works out of Southern California but is open to shooting anywhere and everywhere so if you are sill looking for your photographer, check him out, you won’t be disappointed! Thanks again to Matt for the beautiful images!
