mmm

I made cupcakes last night for no reason… they were good
I think this (above) is the biggest cupcake-cake i have ever seen! And sometimes, it isn’t as much about that taste as it is the packaging. Not to say that these (below) Sprinkles cupcakes don’t taste good, but they are like $3 a cupcake… But when it comes all pre-packaged and perfect like that… it almost makes it worth the price

(pictures from here and from here)
P.S. Yaaaaaay for Pam and Jim! And poor Toby!

for the seamstress :)
Maggie brought up a good point about getting custom dresses made for my maids. I originally thought this would be too expensive, but who knows. These are the dresses that I would love to have made for my girls, in all grey… not sure which fabric, but I am thinking maybe different necklines for each girl, or a different one all together for each one, but with the same fabric.. and how cute would little matching junior bridesmaid dresses be?!

(all from melissa sweet except for the blue one, which was from the pricilla of boston site as well)

just… just go with me on this one
Ok, I am about to do something… well, something not quite embarrassing, but not quite right, but then again it is not quite wrong. I am about to post some pictures of dresses from… Spiegel. Yes, you heard me right. Spiegel, you know, that catalog that your mother used to get when you were 6? Out of sheer desperation for cute, re-wearable, affordable, GREY bridesmaid dresses, I went there. Yes I did. Please don’t judge me, although I can hear it now “Wow, I used to think We Met in a Bar was a pretty cool blog… but after this… not so much” I’m sorry, and I promise to post more J. Crew stuff to balance this out
And since I have now gone there, I am gonna keep going. These dresses could be cute
None of them show the full neck/shoulders, so I am thinking they might have some mom-worthy coverage, but for a desperate bride like me, they would totally be a possibility (especially that last one, if it didn’t have the blue sash thingy).

On another note, the Nie Nie benefit sale on etsy is crazy! Every time I go there is one thing left, but over 300 items have been sold! Yay for crafters/bloggers lending out a helping hand to a fellow blogger in need. Please keep the Nielson’s in your prayers, they are slowly getting better but they have a long road of recovery in front of them. Go here for updates.

the week flies by
when you spend a few days in vegas
I haven’t gotten a chance to upload my photos yet, but I will try tonight
I took some fun ones of the “old town” strip and some pics of the new buildings going up. They are doing so much building! I can’t even remember what was next to the bellagio, but it is gone and they are putting in like 5 buildings in that area… crazy.
These pictures are from a site I found called Think Garnish. This first one would be so cute for a picnic wedding! I love the names stamped on the paper plates, so cute!

I am not sure how many kids we will have at our wedding, but more likely than not we will do a fun kids table, similar to this one so that parents can enjoy their cocktails and chatting without worrying that the kids are sliding down the bluff… hmmm…:

recap plus some
So vegas was a hit
A nice, much needed mini vacation. It was short but oh-so-sweet.
Favorite part: Having a drink at the bar in our hotel, deciding we wanted to walk the strip and asking for To-Go cups
Worst part: The smoke! People, don’t you know that smoking is bad for you?!
Bryan’s mother also surprised us with a few wedding gifts! She got us a gorgeous Lenox frame (to hold the “one wedding picture anyone ever has” according to Bryan). She also got us a cake topper! You may be saying to yourself, “I thought she wasn’t doing a cake… hmm…” and you would be right. We weren’t planning on having a cake, but I can’t let the gorgeous topper be cakeless (it even looks like us!). I am thinking we will have one small cake, placed on my great grandmothers cake stand, with the beautiful topper, and have the traditional cutting of the cake. We weren’t planning on “cutting the cake” only because, well, Bryan isn’t a big fan of cake, they are expensive, and gelato sounded more fun
But I think one little cake would be perfect, especially when topped with such a beautiful topper
Thanks again Mary-Ellen!

Ok, now I need your help. I am designing my friend Lauren’s wedding invitations and it is time to make the save the dates. They are having orchids for their flowers, and want to incorporate them into the invitation and I am having the hardest time finding a good vector of orchids! They want it silhouetted, so it needs to have a good shape to it… so if you have a vector of an orchid, or know of a great site that offers them, please help a girl out!
Speaking of invitations, these are gorgeous:

nienie on etsy!
I’ll have some more wedding inspiration and vegas update later on, but I wanted to let you all know about this (in case you hadn’t heard about it)

This etsy seller is doing a benefit sale in honor of Christian and Stephanie Nielson. It started yesterday, and by the time I got back from Vegas, all but one item had been bought! The site says that more items will be put up today at 10 am, so if you get a chance go and buy something!
UPDATE: due to high demand, new items will be posted Thursday at 10 am and Friday at 10 am! Go shop!

to do
We’ve booked the church, the reception venue, and the photographer. Seriously the only “big” things left are the florist (but I am thinking only for our bouquets… we may do the center pieces ourselves) and the bridesmaid dresses… these are gorgeous:

what happens in vegas…
…gets blogged about! haha
I have only been to vegas once, so I am pretty excited about today. Bryan and I are taking the afternoon off to drive up to Vegas to see his mom. (She lives on the east coast and is out in Vegas for the week for some work stuff) We will come back tomorrow, so just a quick little trip, but I am excited to see my future MIL, it has almost been a year since the last time we saw his family, and since we won’t be able to make it back east this holiday season we are glad we can take some time to see her now. So, I leave you with this beautiful picture from Martha. Who knows, maybe I will come back a Mrs.
