hi! I recently found your blog and I can’t tell you how “relate-able” everything is! My beau and I are also “basically” engaged with no ring yet. We live in NC and no one here would ever believe or take us seriously if we said we were truly engaged without a ring. oh well…i truly appreciate your point of view and am so enjoying your blog!

I also live in Orange County (Newport Beach) so I totally understand the bling factor (ugh)…but I honestly, truly LOVE your ring! And I also love your blog, as you can tell since I am reading through all these archives!

Very classy and simply elegant .

It’s kind of funny. We were engaged without a ring at first too and we got so much grief without a ring. We were just at the park watching my son play on the swings and having a normal conversation when he asked me to marry him. I was trying to be all simple and not cost us a lot of money when we went ring shopping and he was the one that said, “that won’t do – I know you are doing this to be nice and responsible” – haha. Even then he knew me better than anyone else. So he picked it out – I merely showed him the setting styles I liked and he took care of the rest. Funny thing though … what he picked ended up being perfect for me. I still get compliments on it … even though it’s lost some of it’s platinum shine.

I love it!! It’s so timeless and ‘elegant’ is a perfect description! i love that you guys were practical about it all- my fi put my ring on a credit card… a no interest for 18 months CC, but a CC nonetheless. I kinda got mad at him when I found out, honestly! His debt becomes mine once we’re married, ya know? lol
