just a little change
So I have been thinking about what I want to do with my grandmothers wedding dress.

It is super chic (the little jacket comes off and without the pouf skirt underneath it is more streamlined) and it fits me perfectly. I decided not to wear it as ‘the dress’ since it is a little discolored from sitting inside a tiny box in a chest somewhere for 50 years, and due to the formalness of our church I wanted to go with a floor length gown. Since our wedding is during the day, we will be doing dinner with our families that night and probably some local bar action with any brave guests that night. I am wondering if I could get it altered into something like this:

Wouldn’t that be so gorgeous?! It has the same tulip fringe top and a seam right wear the skirt would start… Maybe I will bring it to my first alterations appointment and see what Mahtab can do
Oh, after I ask my mom of course! (Mom? What do you think?!)

That would be perfect! She looks just adorable in it.
That would be so fab! I wanted to do a short dress for after the wedding, but it didnt really work out.. love this though!
Wow! That would be awesome!
Gorg!

the jury is still out …..
Mom
I would leave the dress as is. It’s awesomely chic and vintage! Fabulous! You are so lucky to have such a beautiful dress to wear, I could never imagine cutting it. I wish I had a dress from my Mom or G-ma. My suggestion would be to leave the dress as is and wear for your Rehearsal and Rehearsal dinner. It would be super adorable!!!
Just an idea. Either way (altered or not) it will be adorable, I just feel finding a vintage dress this adorable and chic is too hard and rare, so I wouldn’t want to cut it up.
BTW, I love, love, love your blog! It’s one of my absolute favorites to visit. I hope you continue to blog after your big day.
If not, you will be missed.
Brittany: Thanks for the love! And yeah, I am probably just going to leave the dress as is, except for maybe a good cleaning
I think I’m with your mom. I love the second dress, for sure. But! I love (love love love love) your grandmothers dress just the way it is. In fact, if it was in my family, it would be my wedding dress, for sure. So, I guess what I’m saying is – I think it would be sad to alter it, and you or one of your daughters would regret it, and wish it was in it’s original form.
I’d totally buy the second dress though
Where’s the second dress from?
Genevieve: it is from BCBG
