Happy Monday! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is this week… time flies
This weekend was a very productive one on the wedding front, we gocco’d our save the dates! It took a lot more ink than I imagined…

But our new Ikea dinner table substituted nicely for a work table

And all in all, we are pretty happy with them! The white didn’t print as white as I would have liked (but it is whiter in real life than in these pictures), and it isn’t 100% centered, but other than that I love them! Not to mention they only cost about $25 when all is said and done

I also addressed all but 5 of the envelopes (who knew i needed significant others last names?!) We were going to print the addresses on labels but since we didn’t have any on hand and I couldn’t decide which labels we would even want to use, I decided that my handwriting isn’t all that bad and did them myself. We did decide that we are going to gocco our return address on the back, so that will need to be done, and I need to cut and assemble all of the envelope liners, but with only 45 save the dates going out, we should be done by this week! Woohooooooo!
Did you complete any wedding tasks this weekend? oh! A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Jenny, who got married on Saturday! Woo Woo

just a little change
So I have been thinking about what I want to do with my grandmothers wedding dress.

It is super chic (the little jacket comes off and without the pouf skirt underneath it is more streamlined) and it fits me perfectly. I decided not to wear it as ‘the dress’ since it is a little discolored from sitting inside a tiny box in a chest somewhere for 50 years, and due to the formalness of our church I wanted to go with a floor length gown. Since our wedding is during the day, we will be doing dinner with our families that night and probably some local bar action with any brave guests that night. I am wondering if I could get it altered into something like this:

Wouldn’t that be so gorgeous?! It has the same tulip fringe top and a seam right wear the skirt would start… Maybe I will bring it to my first alterations appointment and see what Mahtab can do
Oh, after I ask my mom of course! (Mom? What do you think?!)

I am so confused
Who the heck is this girl?!

She is 12. Check out her blog. It’s crazy. Style Rookie… if she is a rookie well… that makes me someone who got cut from the team.

how i like to start my mornings
with a little bling. Gorgeous pictures and a gorgeous ring. Taken by this guy.

In other news, I forgot about our 8 month out mark (Tuesday) so I figure I will give a little update, if for no one other than myself
Returning two more pairs of shoes to endless.com today, the shoe hunt continues.
Set up my first alterations appointment for the day after thanksgiving, pretty darn excited to put on my dress again
Although I just now realized it is the day after thanksgiving… hmm… maybe only 3 pieces of pumpkin pie this year…
Need to go to Paper Source to buy save the date supplies. Gocco screen and ink are all ready to go.
Still putting off flowers… I’ll get to it later…
Started exercising last night… can barely move my legs today…
4 out of 7 girls have purchased their (now on sale) bm dresses, and the flower girl dresses (also on sale, woo woo) have been purchased.
Going to the eye doctor today to get my contact prescription. Not really wedding related but something I am excited for! I have always worn contacts and about a year and a half ago my last pair ripped… I didn’t have health insurance at the time and had just moved out so wearing my glasses was a better option than spending the money on a doctors visit and contacts.
Ok, enough lists… Happy Thursday

the youth of today
As I drove back to work from lunch I heard something interesting on Dr. Laura. A man called in, we shall call him Bob. Bob and his family were invited to a wedding. He received an email from the bride inviting him and his family to their rehearsal dinner, to be held at X restaurant. In the email it also said that dinner would cost X amount of money, plus tax and tip.
Pause: Yes, traditionally the grooms family pays for the rehearsal dinner. But we all know that tradition gets thrown out the window when budgets don’t match tradition. And according to Bob, the Grooms family was paying for the wedding itself. Put yourselves in that couples shoes. You can’t afford to feed everyone for a rehearsal dinner, but you don’t want to go sans rehearsal dinner.
Dr. Laura (in all of her genius) tells the guy that he has no right to be complaining because he can not judge them for the position they are in and that he shouldn’t go if he doesn’t want to pay.
Bob asks Dr. Laura (in all of his stupidness) if “this is just how the youth of today is”.
I kept repeating that. I am still repeating that. I really hope there are no Bob’s at my wedding. Because what would they think of the youth of today when they find out that our reception is only appetizers and cocktails!
I wonder what answer Bob was looking for. Maybe he was just looking for confirmation? That thinking this was ok? Was he hoping to hear Dr. Laura say “Oh yes Bob, the youth of today is all screwed up. Throwing weddings without a sit down dinner, weddings without a cake, girls wearing short dresses and colored shoes! It is madness I tell you! Madness!”
Luckily she just hung up on him.

ok, don’t tell Bryan that I am talking about Christmas before Thanksgiving, but I had to post this
Ok, so this craft project is meant for children… and November. But I am drawn to all advent calendars so whatever. My mom has this advent calendar with little pockets which she would fill with candy and each day of December my sisters and I would switch off moving the mouse to collect the candy and distribute the 3 pieces. This is my second December out of the house and it still makes me sad that I am not there to move the mouse. What can I say, I am all about tradition. See the how-to post here. (I know you are trying to convert this into a wedding project… don’t lie.)
