We Met in a Bar

6

Ok, so here they are, my 6 resolutions for 2009.

1. Get healthy. Wether that is by eating more organic and locally grown food or working out more, I need to get healthy.  I have been blessed with a fast metabolism and one of these days it is going to slow down and I will actually need to workout, and I should be prepared. Also I want to have a healthy strong body for babies. (one day, not today :) )

2. Grow my business. I want to do more freelance work, more of the work that I love, and head toward a career that I am excited about.

3. Take more pictures. I was a photography major, and I think that once school was finished and I started a ‘real’ non-photography job, I just stopped taking the time to get the camera out. I want to open that creative outlet again.

(pic by me for some class in college)

4. Get back into church. I worked in the children’s ministry at my church for almost 5 years, and if you have ever worked at your church, you know, it can be draining. Church was work to me. And after I stopped working there, I guess I just needed a break. I didn’t go for a while (who knew sleeping in on Sunday’s could be so wonderful?!) and although B and I do go now once in a while, I need to go more.

(pic by me on one of the mexico mission trips with my church)

5. Learn to be a better fiance/wife. We can all be better at who we are, and Bryan deserves the best that  I can give him.

6. Learn to (really) cook.  I am trying, but I have a long way to go. Hopefully my Christmas present will help :)

So there you have it. My 6 resolutions. I am going for quality here, not quantity. Cause if you look at my to-do list for 2009, well, let’s just say there are more than 6 bullet points on that sucker :)   I was going to do a second honeymoon post today, but I was just told we get to leave at noon today (yay!) so this will be my last post in 2008! See you back here in ‘09!

hold it right there!

Good morning! It is a cold (but only like 60 something, it is supposed to be nice today :) ) brisk morning on this last day on 2008. I don’t know how you feel about it, but where the heck did the time go?! Personally I am excited for 2009. Excited to get married, travel (i have another destination question for you all later), move (our lease is up in November :) ) and to turn a quarter of a century. Freakin 25. When did I become an adult? This post is going to be about hair, but later I will ask for some tips on another honeymoon location, and I will finally complete the 6 interesting things about me tag I received from The Coffee Girl. But I think I may morph it into 6 resolutions, given the day and all.

Ok, on to hair. So, I have long, straight blonde hair. It has always been like that. Except 6th grade where I tried out the bob. Not terrible, but obviously not cute enough to keep it going. I don’t like to style it. I do put a flat iron on it to smooth it down, but if I were to just never blow dry it or anything, it would be… straight.  And it detests the word curly. I don’t, it’s the hair.

Example. In 7th grade I was in Bye Bye Birdie at school. (Huge mistake, but whatever. I still have nightmares about the audition we had to do in front of class… singing… in front of 7th graders.)  I had to wear my hair in a ponytail with the ends curled. I slept in rollers. I used three cans of hairspray. I had to re-curl my hair at every 5 minute break I had (big surprise I didn’t get a very big part) And by the end of the show my hair was one big, hair-sprayed straight mess.

So, you can see my dilemma when I fall in love with hairstyles like this:

Maybe my stylist has some magical fairy dust that makes straight hair that hates curls forget for a few hours…

vancouver?

So… recently our honeymoon plans have changed and we are currently thinking about doing a week or so in Vancouver. Neither of us have ever been, but we have heard good things :)  If you have been there, or live there, what do you recommend we do/don’t do, where should we stay/not stay?  Thanks!

love them

I am loving these illustrations by Andrew Bannecker.

This is what I want to do. Design advertisements, but my way.

new

David’s Bridal dresses.  (My dress still isn’t there!) I know there have been terrible things said about David’s Bridal, but all I know is my personal experience which involved getting a gorgeous dress for a great price, a helpful sales lady and lots of friends, champagne and pictures!  Here are a few new options from their Spring 2009 line:

Personally, I am glad that I went with J. Crew for my maids dresses, because some of the ones from David’s Bridal can cost just as much and they aren’t as good of quality. But I will say DB has a million colors and it is easy to find a different dress for every girl in coordinating colors if you wanted.

yeah, like that

The church that B and I are getting married in is connected to the Mission in San Juan Capistrano, CA and we are lucky enough to get to take pictures there! I recently edited a wedding for my friend Matthew Morgan and although the couple was married elseware their reception was in San Juan so they took pictures in the mission. I can’t wait to have pictures like this of me and my man!

Ok, and I mean this is the nicest most serious kind of way. Young Mormon couples are so flippen stylish! Check out their outfits:

And it is kind of hard to see, but her bridesmaids have on Orange wrap dresses with brown thick fishnet stockings on with brown mary janes. Adorable! (And perfect for a November wedding!)

Check out the rest of their wedding on Matt’s blog!

a bright sunshiny day

Is what I am hoping for for my wedding day. And I would like it to look something like this:

The picture was found here, but was pulled from the NEW Martha Stewart Weddings which comes out…. TODAY! I need to go find it :)

a few more

christmas time favorites :)

My new 2009 calendar from Linda & Harriet (it is gorgeous and I looove it!)

And my new Kate Spade shoes! Ok, these were more of a gift to myself :) They were on sale for $164 PLUS another 30% (down from $370!) so I had to buy them :) I made it ok cause the money I will get from a job I  just finished covers them (Yes I spent the money before I got it… I don’t see the problem… ;) )  I do realize they are marigold… but they are too cute to save for the wedding!

well well well

I must say, the boy did extra good this year. I know Christmas is not all about presents, but I have to take a moment to brag about how lucky I am to the whole internet :) I must have been a very good girl :)

I got some super cute stationary from Pink Loves Brown (he even got it with my new name put on it! {Which means I can’t use it for another 7 months :( })

The skinny belt I wanted (in orange!) from J. Crew :)

And… all on his own(!) he picked out the most perfect little grey dress and cute black top from Anthro

Yep, I am one lucky lucky girl :)

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas holiday :) It is Sunday night and I am soooooo not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. But at least I will have you all to keep me busy, right? It has been the most relaxing 3 days ever. I even read a book! (The Time Travelers Wife. read it) I haven’t had enough spare time to read a book in I don’t know how long! I have next weekend free too, any book suggestions?! See you in the morning!
