calling all Texas Brides!

I have a reader who lives in (or near) Austin, Texas and is looking for some local inspiring blogs to help her plan her 2010 wedding. If you live in that area or know of a blogger who does, please leave a link in the comments! Thanks!

I am in love with the simplicity of these programs (and the color :) )

very cool

A quick post this morning due to this little thing called work :)  I wanted to bring to your attention a great new program from Macy’s. We are registered there and today I received an email saying that they now offer a charity program! You can full on add a charity to your registry if you want, or what I did was you can select the charity of your choice (they had a good selection!) and every time someone buys something from your registry off the website they will give a donation to that charity! Such a great thing for them to do!

If you haven’t registered  yet I would totally make Macy’s one of your choices. You can’t argue with online shopping AND giving to charity! Oh and a random side note: Some woman that we don’t know bought something off of our registry… not sure if she was just confused or if she gets a kick out of buying things off of peoples registries for herself!

And to add a pretty picture :) Courtesy of Ritzy Bee.

easy peasy

Don’t you hate it when work gets in the way of blogging? Yes, this is my fourth post today but 3 out of 4 are from my inspiration folder, which I only pull from when I don’t have anything else. I am happy that I am still employed (there was about a week that I was pretty sure I was going to be jobless for Christmas) and happy that they have work for me to do, but I miss you guys!

One of the only vendors I have had zero contact with is a florist. I’m not sure why. I love flowers and I really love wedding flowers, but for some reason I have just not had the desire to go meet a bunch of florists. Maybe because I know it will be expensive and I will have to wheel and deal and price compare and I am boring myself already. Do I really need a florist? I mean, when there is inspirations like this out there…

can’t. wait.

I dropped off my newly acquired fiances-grandmothers engagement ring at my jeweler on Saturday and will be able to pick it up, perfectly fitting and perfectly shiny, on wednesday. Now the search for the perfect wedding band begins :) I am loving these two looks.

I love the look of pave (sp?!) diamonds, but the ring has two diamonds on each side of the main on in a channel setting, so I am leaning towards that…

ornaments

Good morning! I hope you had a wonderful weekend :) Mine was spent getting in the Christmas spirit :) Friday night I watched the Dana Point Harbor boat parade where all the boats show off their lovely christmas decorations. And Saturday and Sunday consisted of christmas-tizing our apartment :) Lights, a wreath on the door and thanks to my grandparents a little tree :)

Since I am a crafter by nature, I decided to make some little ornaments for our mini-mini tree. I bought a few small white starfish from a little shop called the Shell Shoppe in Morro Bay and turned them into ornaments! Here is a little how-to:

1. All of the supplies. Although I did nix the metal hook idea once I saw that the string was enough. Krazy Glue, some red and white bakers twine from Martha and the starfish :)

2. Not really a step. just a close up.

3. Cut the string into about 5 inch peices and tie them at the ends. You can customize this to how low you want them to hang, and where on the ornament the bottom of the string will be glued. Super glue the end in the center of the starfish. I hold the string down and put a few drops on top. Wait a few minutes to dry.

4. Voila! Handmade ornaments!

not my wedding

So one of my maids, Lauren, is getting married in April (yay!) She recently told me that her fiances work is so busy right now (he works in catering and event management so holiday parties are a big part of his business) that they have to put planning on hold until after the madness. Being the good friend that I am (;)) I took it upon myself to find some inspiration and ideas for her.

A hot little Oscar De La Renta dress for her outside by the beach wedding.

I am thinking something like this for her invites, except not so bright, and a little more minimal. (See her save the dates here)

Ways to incorporate the purple and chartreuse into the rest of the wedding papers.

A great way to save money on flowers and favors, consolidate! Have your centerpieces be take home favors. A potted orchid for each family/couple/single person. Not sure how this comes out cost wise, but it is cute :)

Include the dogs!
