in the meantime…
Until I get my pictures back I may be doing some random postings. Today we will discuss cute kitchens and earthquakes…
I love this look, and would absolutely love to replicate it:

(from darling dexter)

(from tartraz)
However, neither of these lovely ladies live in Southern California… which leads to the important question… would it be smart to do this in earthquake prone Orange County? Would I be just asking for trouble doing this in my house? Do you live in S. California and have these shelves in your kitchen? Inquiring minds (…mine) want to know!

Oh yeah, I recognize the first kitchen! It’s in Savannah!
I live in San Diego and have the same shelves as Darling Dexter. I haven’t had a problem with them at all. I love them and am so glad we chose to add them to our small one bedroom apartment. They are very useful adn cute too!
I have shelves in the entry way displaying framed watercolors, and those make me nervous enough, let alone glasses and such in a kitchen!
Did you feel the earthquake yesterday about 11am (I believe it was centered down in Baja- or perhaps past Baja)?
not be a downer, but i lived through the northridge earthquake (i was in woodland hills at the time); my beautiful dishes, on beautiful open shelves, did not. and they almost killed my dog when they came crashing off the shelves. BUT that was a very large/rare earthquake. with the smaller shakes, i never had a problem. i hope this helps, as opposed to confusing you further
