another day, another post

(check back later for this real wedding by Matthew Morgan!)
I don’t know about you , but I am still so full from this holiday weekend. I hope you had a great one, with lots of great food and family! I know I sure did. Being a grown up married woman now I decided to contribute a side dish and a few pecan pies to the festivities. (My first time baking pies from scratch!) Well, there was a tiny slip up (ok, I used corn oil instead of corn syrup…) and they looked better than they tasted. But! I made another one for tonight, using the correct ingredients, and it turned out delicious! Everyone has to screw up their first time, right?
Coming up this week I have a real wedding, a few updates on the homestead, and some more fun inspiration that I have found recently. I hope you stick around, and de-lurk! I know you guys are out there (technology these days… it really is amazing) and I know you have opinions! Come out of the woodwork and lets talk! I started this blog to keep track of inspiration, but I kept going with this blog because of the amazing community I discovered. Thank you all for reading, even if you don’t de-lurk!!

Ikea has really benefitted from us moving. Here are a few of our new items.

some assembly required
I love Ikea. Love it. And I know full well that 99% of what you buy there requires assembly. That little wanna-be wrench? Yeah, we are best friends. So when I saw this post over on Young House Love (one of my favorite home blogs) I was not the least bit surprised. Since the Expedit not only lives in our living room but also our office, these boxes were a must. Here is what my boxes-in-progress looked like:

Coffee and The Office made it bearable. (I should have a finished product picture… but I don’t. However these boxes now store all of my gift wrapping accessories!)

the long winter
You would barely know it was winter by the weather here in so cal (um, it is supposed to warm up this week?! What?!) but that isn’t stopping me from pulling out a long time favorite read, The Long Winter. I have read it multiple times, and each time I find myself wishing I lived in the period of Little House on the Prairie. Little girls who had a strong work ethic but still wore dresses all the time? Yes please!

holiday decor
Although I firmly believe it is way to early to be playing Christmas music in department stores, it is not to early to think about Holiday decorations. Some things I have my eye on right now:
From Ikea

From Target

From Anthropologie

real wedding: onelove photo
Sara from onelove photography sent me this wedding the other day and I am so excited to post it! Not only are the pictures amazing, but there are peacock feathers! (And we all know my love for peacock feathers)
A little information about the couple:
Khara and Tony Tapia were married this summer at the Garden Pavilion in Sonoma, California. This private estate hosts less than a dozen weddings a year and is in very high demand, obviously – situated in the heart of Sonoma’s famous Carneros region it sits as a historic landmark. Built in 1856, with a generous wisteria clad veranda, It flanks the spacious lawn together with an elegant shaded pavilion for dining and dancing surrounded by an abundance of flowers, roses, and oleander trees.
Tony’s hispanic background infused with Khara’s vintage flair brought for quite a fun event, with a mariachi band playing as they walked down the aisle, guests ate paella for dinner and pies for dessert….the bouquets were gorgeous, flanked with bleached peacock feathers!! Amazing! and fun!

just a little something I threw together
We decided to have a holiday/house warming party which meant I needed to put something together to send out. Originally I was going to just design something and email it a’la PDF but I couldn’t resist printing them. Everyone loves getting mail, and I love sending it!

I went the classic route this time, with a little bit of whimsy in the red font. The wreath vector is from BrairPress.
