Welcome home
The past week has been crazy. But good crazy. Lots of moving. Lots of unpacking. Lots of shopping (Ikea, Target, BB&B, Lowes, even Wal-Mart) I just got my computer set up so I apologize for the lack in posting.
Our new place is… awesome! Yes, it has it’s downfalls. All of the cupboards/drawers close weird. There is a built in wine rack that I don’t know what to do with (and don’t say fill with wine!) (Edit: we also can’t take them out… boo for renting) There is a funky smell that comes out of our hallway after we take a shower. The street is kind of loud. The cats don’t have a patio to go out on anymore.
But, it has a lot of perks as well. A lot. First, two bedrooms. Not one. But two! We actually have an office! Also, I love love love love love living in this town again. It is where I grew up. It is where I went to elementary school (seriously, my old elementary school is down the block). I shop at the same grocery store as my mom now. I can’t wait to run into her by the Bud Light. (Hi mom!) I can see the ocean form my living room. We had to buy a new fridge, but it is nicer than our old fridge, so score! I get to decorate. And I am having a heck of a good time doing it. The list really does go on and on. We are so happy here. One of my favorite things about this place though… the light. The glorious light.
More pictures and a regular posting schedule coming soon!

You could roll your towels up and store them in the wine rack… that’s a decorator’s trick I’ve heard about when I worked at Kirkland’s several years ago.
Mmm, I am SO jealous of that light! Congrats on your new place.
Enjoy your blog!
Why not remove the X things and leaave the open shelving for cookbooks?
Can you use your wine rack to store craft supplies? I’m thinking yarn, fabric, or paper? The light is lovely…
Shut up you with your Kitchenaid mixer! They are UNATTAINABLY expensive over here… Love the light in your place too. And that you’re excited to run into your Mom at the grocery store, aw cute. PS. What do you have against wine?! x
“You can take the boy out of the city, but you cannot take the city out of the boy”. Love the NYC poster! Did you get that at Ikea?
I will need to get one.
The apartment is great. Now if you only had a landlord that came directly from Sicily who loved to share home made pasta dishes with you as Mary and I were so lucky to have in our first apartment in Astoria!

PS-
I love how beautifully my shirt in the family picture matches the hue and color of the peacock feather!
You are so talented, darling!
