Thrifty
I scored this owl piggy bank (owl-ey bank?!) at the local Salvation Army for $2.75. Sweet.

time to create

How is it almost Friday already? I have been wondering… how does one go about becoming independently wealthy? I think that if I could figure that out, it would make life… simpler. Not even wealthy wealthy, just enough to get by. Enough so that I could just… create… all day. Hmm.

love day
Funny story. At our first night of Engaged Encounter we went through a list of fairly common/should be easy to answer questions. Questions like ‘will we open presents on Christmas Eve’ and ‘will we get a dog’ and if you answered yes you stood up, if no then you sat down. Although Bryan and I were usually standing (or sitting) together, one of the questions, ‘is Valentines day an important holiday’ had me sitting and him standing. He just looked at me like “whaaaat?!” I am pretty sure we were both answering the way we thought we should answer…
Nevertheless, I do love Valentines day. Not for the candy or the flowers (although who doesn’t love getting flowers at work?!) but more for the craft possibilities. My wheels are already turning… what kind of cards will I make? What fun homemade gift will I give my loved ones? How will I decorate the house?
These items from Bake it Pretty are helping to grease those wheels.

vintage
And the search for the perfect desk continues. We both agree that we don’t want to spend a lot of money (read: less than $100) on a desk that will only be used for sewing and crafts and whatnot. We want something old, something with character. Wood would be nice. But what we really really really want is a vintage metal desk.
We love the look of these skinny legged ones:

(most of these… if not all, are from here)
But we also love love love the look of the all steel (as opposed to the fake wood top) tanker desks:

(from here)
Love the drawers (perfect for holding fabric scraps and craft tools and paper and who knows what else), love the vintage look, love it all… The sad thing is, they are impossible to find on the cheap. The few that I have seen on craigslist are going for upwards of $900! We don’t want to settle on a desk, but we also don’t want to go desk-less forever. Uugghhhh.

thoughts
1. The rain and wind here in Orange County has been craaaazy. (Also, I know we are spoiled here weather wise… but for us, this is craaaazy!)
2. We ordered Chinese food tonight, and realized too late that we didn’t get any fortune cookies. I am pretty sure that is bad luck.
3. If I took my yoga mat anywhere other than from my bedroom to in front of the TV (yeah Wii Fit!) I would totally snatch up this yoga mat, made by my lovely friend Jessie. It is made out of the most awesome-est fabric, and it’s on sale!

4. Have an awesome weekend! I am thinking a trip to Ikea is in the cards for us… I’ll keep you posted.

Don’t tell my (web designer) husband… but this pretty much sums up my knowledge on the inner workings of websites:

something like this
Saturday I plan on taking a walk down to the beach (my new exercise routine), and I have my fingers crossed that I will walk past a garage sale that is selling the perfect sewing desk. Fiiiingerrrrrs Crooooosssssed. There. What? It could totally happen.
I found a few pictures of what I am looking for.

(1. poppytalk 2. oh my dear 3. design is mine)
And speaking of something like this, my parents are planning on redoing their kitchen and were thinking white cabinets with a butcher block top. Found some examples of that as well!

ireland tips
Update: We will be in Edinburgh and Linlithgow while in Scotland.

B and I will be visiting Scotland this summer with the rest of my family in order to spread the rest of my grandparents ashes. While we are over there we will also be hitting up Ireland! I have never been to either country so do you have any tips? Our time in Scotland is pretty much accounted for (but if you have any restaurant/pub tips, please let me know!) but we have no idea what we should do in Ireland. Any recommendations?!
