speechless

This photo made me speechless. It is just so perfect in so many ways.  Ashley’s blog is a daily read for me (can’t wait until Google gets their act together and gets her blog working on their reader!!)and is just full of gorgeous inspiration from her own life. The decorating, the sewing, the fun crafts with her kids… she seems like a very cool woman!

You have to check it out on her blog though… the size of her pictures really makes them that much more amazing!

old and new

A friend posted a link on Google Buzz this morning to a very cool Flickr set called Looking Into the Past.  I am loving what he does with the old photos!

sewing on the dining table…

… never looked so good.  (Well, it will probably look better during the day time with gorgeous light filling the room, but I didn’t want to wait until this weekend to share the pictures!)  Like I mentioned yesterday, we bought a dining table and drawer unit from Ikea to create a sewing/painting/craft table. I am in love with it.

The drawer unit is on wheels so it can be moved out from under the table if Bryan and I want to work at the desk at the same time.  We still need to purchase a lamp of some sort, but for now, it is just what we needed!

The bottom three drawers hold my fabric (can you spot the cat in the picture?)…

… and the top three hold miscellaneous paper supplies and tools, as well as my gocco items.   Oh to be organized!

we have a winner!

Well people, this weekend I officially sewed something.  I admit, as I tried to do it for the first time the bobbin thread wasn’t catching and I had to call my mother, who immediately drove the 2 minutes over to my place to show me how it is done (thanks mom!).  once I practiced a little I got to work hemming our curtains! I don’t have any pictures, mostly because they are pretty cheap curtains to being with and have been totally beaten up by our cats. Not pretty. But the end result wasn’t too shabby, and I am excited to move on to other things.

Which brings me to the next exciting piece of news, we bought a desk!  A few days back I was thinking about how it is perfectly normal to sew on the kitchen table, so why not buy a kitchen table? All we were looking for was something white, long, basic and inexpensive. Which we found with the Melltorp dining tale at IKEA.  For $69.99 it was a steal!  We also bought the new Alex drawer unit. It was a little pricey but will provide great storage and has the look we are going for. We will be sliding it underneath the table.

We haven’t put the Alex together yet, but once we do I will get a picture up.  I am so excited to have a sewing table!  It will also be a great crafting/invitation making station.  The possibilities are endless…

almost ready

Ok, last weekends trip to Joann’s,  plus some online shopping (etsy all the way!) has me almost ready to start sewing.  I think I am going to try it this weekend… wish me luck!

Some of my supplies… (and no, we aren’t expecting, but we have a few friends who are)

my secret

I registered for all white china/dishware/cookware so that I could add pops of color effortlessly. Like these pretty sea foam bowls from Anthropologie.

lazy weekend

This Valentine’s/President’s Day weekend was spent being super lazy.  I am pretty sure all I did was eat, watch the Olympics and go to Joann’s (5 patterns for $5! woo woo)   We went out to celebrate my dad’s birthday on Saturday night, and last night (V-day) we had my parents and sister over for our weekly Sunday night dinner. Bryan made chicken parmesan sandwiches and they were superb!  I finally got around to uploading my pictures from the past few weeks and I wanted to share some from my sugar cookie making experience.

My mom bought me this vintage cookbook a while back. I figured their sugar cookie recipe would be perfect, and it was.

I love how the sugar created the letters after a while.

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as I did (and if you are in Southern California, I hope you enjoyed the weather as much as I did!  Today I busted out my rainbows with a new sundress…  it was heaven!).

iPhone Love

I have come to accept the fact that I work full time, and therefore can not always take gorgeous, well lit photos of my craft/design projects since most of it happens at night. However, I still want to share some of the valentines day projects I have been working on so enjoy these iPhone pics!
Cookies packaged up for coworkers, doilies and hearts adorning some photos and bryans gift!
