We Met in a Bar

surrender

This has finally come out of it’s box and is sitting on…. our dinner table.

blog-005

We are still looking for that perfect vintage metal desk (we determined that the tanker style would be too big for the apartment. Apparently the door frames get more and more narrow the further into the apartment you go) and we may still get an Ikea desk… but for now the dinner table will work. I have a trip to Joann’s planned for this weekend and hope to take my Singer on it’s maiden voyage very very soon.  I will keep you all updated!

Side note: Does anyone watch 18 Kids and Counting? Did you see their little baby Josie? Sooo incredibly tiny.

I’m about to do the same thing with mine! DJ is going to be out of town this weekend, so I have about 10 projects up my sleeve; one of which is sewing. With burlap and the other fabric I have lying around. I’m thinking maybe a pillow – something simple with straight lines to start. ;)

Jessie: my first project may be hemming out curtains… glamorous, I know, but I need to stick to straight lines for a bit!!
Jess: So far Iowa and Kentucky have had the perfect metal desks! If only I lived in those states :(
Kristy: 10 projects?! You sound like me! When Bryan isn’t home I am in project mode and am always super productive!

we have a vintage metal desk and just a warning, the tank style weighs as much as a tank. And anything with a drawer at your knees is not great for sewing. I recommend something that is comfortable, like something you would type at. otherwise you’ll end up with your shoulders in your ears and stress pains. if you like the metal type, the old school metal typewriter carts are great and they have wheels which is great when you don’t want to stare at your cute sewing machine anymore.
