SLO
Sorry for the slow start this week. I got back from SLO around 5:00 on Sunday night and headed straight to my parents for Sunday dinner. I will post birthday invite pictures tomorrow, and for everyone visiting from Wedding Bee, I am working on a generic activity book, and should have something ready to go soon!!
SLO was amazing, as always. Myself and three friends (all friends since elementary school, all bridesmaids) drove up to San Luis Obispo to visit a friend who recently relocated up there (also known since elementary school and a bridesmaid). Since I have family in that area and have visited at least once a year for most of my life I had to show the girls some classic SLO. Gum Alley. Touristy? Yes. A must see? Yes. They were a little grossed out at first, but soon enough were popping gum in their mouths to leave a little Orange County behind.
We ate at both Chow and Novo (Both amazing. If you ever go to Novo for Sunday brunch, have a Tall Dark & Wired and Huevos Rancheros for me) and wine tasted in Paso Robles. On our way home we hit up Solvang (a first for me) and I admired the product design.
We didn’t have a chance to get pea soup from Anderson’s, but one of these days we will make the drive just for it’s deliciousness. I hear you can put anything in it you want… mmmmm.
Girls, if you are reading this, thanks for an amazing weekend!

Looks like a fabulous girls weekend!
I had an amazing time too, can’t wait to go back!!
salt licorice is THE thing in sweden. they have it in several small chewy pieces…or hard salty black licorice to suck on. sounds crazy…and i’ll be honest, i DESPISED all shapes and forms of black licorice before i moved here, but now i’m an addict. i even got my grams hooked on it. anyhoo, your finnska box made me smile.
…and that gum wall sorta made me throw up a little bit in my mouth. gum (out of the mouth) is quite possibly the worst thing i can think of…besides world hunger and war, of course.
glad you girls had a great time! yay! love me some SLO time…and novo ANY day!
have you been to anderson’s? i went before we moved away because I LOVE PEA SOUP. it was disappointing to say the least. though they do give you a plate of things to add to the soup, which is fun(ish). it wasn’t nearly as cool as the madonna inn; and the pea soup was watery. that being said, great photo ops!
Been following your blog for awhile, but when I saw a post about my hometown (SLO) I just had to say hello! Glad to hear you had a great time there, the area is so green and beautiful this time of year. If you haven’t been already, you must stop into Paper Sky for some great inspiration, and High St Deli makes the best deli sandwiches on the planet (I’m dreaming of one right now!) Thanks so much for a snapshot of home, and for all of the inspiration on your lovely site!
