Since tomorrow is December (holy crap) I thought it would be fun to put together a little wish list from one of my favorite stores. And fun it was!

week 31

Week 30 was a whirlwind that I am glad I lived through. On to week 31…

baby bump-017

I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving! I ate too much, but that comes with the territory of Thanksgiving, right?

Last weekend was my baby shower and I must say that my mom and sister outdid themselves. Here is a little peek into the day:

We played the “guess the size of my belly” game, the “identify the baby food” game and the “gift bingo” game (which I highly recommend). Overall it was a lovely day (despite the rain) and I had a lot of fun!

This week we also may have changed our minds about our stroller. We were set on the BOB, but then while checking out a local baby store, OC Tykes, we kind of fell in love with the UPPAbaby, and heard amazing things about it. Does anyone out there have an UPPAbaby? Do you like it?? It is pricey, but I like the fact that it easily converts into a double stroller, where as with the BOB we would need to buy another stroller…

This belly continues to grow, and our little guy has found his favorite spot… right underneath my ribs. No fun for me, but who can blame him, he lives in a tiny little home that he is quickly outgrowing!

Hynobabies is going well. It is part hypnosis training for childbirth and part education on pregnancy and birth. I highly encourage all pregnant women to educate yourselves on birth. Don’t just go to lamaze class because that is what pregnant women do, and don’t take everything the doctors and nurses say to you as fact. Do your own research, read books, talk to moms who have had natural births and come to your own conclusions. There is so much that you would never know if you didn’t look into it yourself.

more nursery progress

We bought baby boy’s dresser on Saturday at, where else, IKEA. I searched everywhere for a quality dresser that fit our semi-modern aesthetic as well as our budget and IKEA came through with their Hemnes dresser. Almost our entire apartment is IKEA, and while they do have some cheaper quality items, we have found that their more expensive pieces really hold up so we are confident that this dresser will last for a while. And since it isn’t at all baby-ish it will easily work for non-nursery purposes. We will put a changing pad on top and are going to look for some yellow or blue knobs to replace the current ones.

Right now it is topped with a few books and a Thomas that a friend gave us…

As well as a few of my recent Gilt purchases. If you don’t have an account yet, I highly recommend you sign up. Especially if you are pregnant or have kids. They have great deals on all things children (and woman and man and home!). These Dwell toys and Keep sneakers are just a few of the things I have bought at more than 50% off!

And with 2 months to go, this little guy already has quite the wardrobe. Most of it has been gifted to us by friends who have boys or from excited grandparents and aunts. The little duck shirt was something I bought at Cath Kidston while in Scotland. We didn’t know the sex yet but I figured cute baby ducks could go either way.

cute!

Dolly recently sent me a link to this awesome video of their wedding invitations!

From Dolly: We thought of the idea ourselves and we co-wrote it and designed it ourselves, with the help of 2 close friends marloes versluys as the graphic designer and abbie ong as the copywriter. The concept behind the invite is “uniting two people as one” which is what a marriage means to us. The idea is to have two seperate cards and when people receive the invite they have to pull two strings together to make one.

week 29

Due to the time change, we can’t take my pictures on my actual new-week day, since it is already dark when I get home. So now they will be taken on the weekend, further into the actual week!

baby bump-016

Week 29 has been pretty good. We discussed exercise and nutrition in our Hynobabies class and I am happy to report that I am getting enough protein on a daily basis (woohoo!) which doesn’t surprise me because I crave it. Like, sitting at my desk at work eating a spoonful of peanut butter crave it. This little guy has been very active and I am assuming he is in the head down position because my ribs have been taking a beating lately. As you saw in my last post we set up the crib, and today Bryan is putting together the dresser while I tackle the bumpers. My shower is next weekend so we really want to have the nursery looking semi-baby ready! I can’t believe I only have 11 weeks left, time is flying by. And the more I talk to other mom’s, the more I realize this guy can easily come in as soon as 8 weeks! I just hope he stays in long enough to come out healthy and strong.

side tables

I hope you all had a good Monday! As much as I hate the fact that we have an hour less of sunshine now, I will say that the time change made 5:00 AM not so terrible this morning. I am just now getting home from a full day of work, Hypnobabies class and a quick trip to Lowes (nursery progress pictures coming soon!) and I have a few projects to finish up/start before calling it a night. Good thing I still have my second trimester energy level!

We have been in our new place for over a month now and one of the biggest needs we still have is side tables for our bedroom. In our old place I used one of our dressers and B used a little IKEA night stand/drawer thing, however due to some rearranging we have now found ourselves table-less. I feel like I have looked at every store and nothing seems to fit our style and/or budget. Maybe I need to start thinking outside the box a little?

week 28

baby bump-015

Week 28 has been pretty productive so far!

We went to our first Hypnobabies class on Monday and I am pretty excited about it. Admittedly the only experience I have with hypnosis is watching some schoolmates do funny things on grad night so I am still a little wary of it all, but I have heard such great things about Hynobabies that I am giving it a shot.

Yesterday we bought our crib and used Walmart’s free Site to Store service. The crib had an estimated arrival date of 11/11-11/18, I got an e-mail this morning saying it shipped and this afternoon it arrived at the store! We just went to pick it up and it is currently in our garage in its box until we paint the nursery.

I bought the fabric for the bumpers yesterday and it shipped from New York today.

We picked out and purchased paint colors for the nursery (2 shades of blue, to be separated by a white line across the middle of the walls)

All in all it has been a good week! I am now off to listen to one of my Hypnobabies tracks, and maybe make myself an ice cream shake because it is terribly hot right now. What is up with this weather?! It has been 90 degrees all day and there is no nice ocean breeze that we always count on (since we don’t have an air conditioner. Who needs an air conditioner when you live so close to the ocean?! Apparently we do.)

Top: J.Crew I love that this shirt still fits over my big ‘ol belly!
Pants: Gap Maternity They are pants, but they are on the verge of being leggings. They zip up and button, and are loose at the ankles so I wear them, but I am always a little self conscious that they look like leggings. No offense to leggings, they just aren’t my style. This picture isn’t helping either…
Shoes: Kate Spade Yes, still rocking the heels! I find that so long as I stretch every day, which I should do anyways, I don’t get back pain so no reason to ditch the heels. (Yet)

Please say a prayer for Andy Irons’ wife, who is due with their first child next month. I can’t even image the heartache that loosing your husband can bring, let alone loosing him while carrying his child. My heart breaks for her. You can read more about Andy and what they know so far about his passing here.
