Summertime

Summertime with a toddler is quite a good time. Beach, park, long after dinner walks, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, kiddie pool, hose, wa-wa (water), lots of kids out on the street. Quite a good time indeed.

Becoming a doula

doula 8

Ever since my pregnancy and Declan’s birth, I have been slightly obsessed with all things birth. I loved being pregnant and I look forward to being in that state again, but what I am really excited for is the birthing experience. A little too excited actually, which got me thinking that maybe becoming a doula would be the right thing for me. It is something that I can do the rest of my life, it allows for a flexible work schedule so I can be home with my kid(s) more, and it is something I am truly passionate about. I spoke with my doula, Courtney, and she was kind enough to answer all of my “why, how, what” questions about her own journey to becoming a doula.

I have since downloaded the required reading list for DONA, the certification program and am slowly but surely checking them off. I read Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth while I was pregnant so I am already ahead of the game! By the way, if you are pregnant and haven’t read that book yet, do it. It is an amazing confidence booster as a woman, no matter what kind of birth experience you want to have. I have now finished one more and am half way through the third. What I can tell you so far, is that you should get a doula. For a million and one reasons, get a doula!

Fancy…

Last weekend I made some pretty fancy pancakes. Are you ready? Banana blueberry pancakes. Oh yes.

The best part is the recipe how-to. (Recipe is too fancy a word, even for my fancy pancakes!) Mash a few over-ripe bananas in the bottom of a bowl. Add pancake mix of choice and water. Once in the pan, add a few blueberries. And you’re done! Fancy pancakes that are Declan approved.

life lately

No time for blogging lately. My days consist of work, and then rushing home to hang out with this little guy and Bryan. Soaking up the last few hours of sunshine, blowing bubbles, and just hanging out. Life is good.
