We Met in a Bar

new year

Dude. I don’t know where you live (and if it somewhere where it gets below zero outside, skip to the next paragraph) but it is flippen freezing outside! Like, less than 50 degrees out freezing. I can’t feel my hands or my toes.  I don’t think it should be allowed to get this cold without at least giving us some snow.  But that is just me :)

Ok. So it is a new year :) With the craziness that was the holidays, I kind of put wedding planning on the back burner, and now is the time to start it up again. Here are some things I am thinking about right now.

I need to call florists this week

May be kicking the homemade cookie favor idea to keep us sane. Now what?

Can we do this? And where would we put them?

I need to talk to our reception venue coordinator about brining in my own napkins and or coasters.

Maybe these for my maids?

I like this makeup.

We need to create a cool map

The guy from the gelato company has not gotten back to me in about 2 months. I emailed his boss last week. We have decided to give them until the end of the month to communicate with us. If they don’t (we will be bummed cause a gelato cart would be awesome) we may go this route (which would cost half as much :)

See, just a few thoughts :) Also, we have our engagement Encounter weekend this weekend :) Should be fun!

better late than never

I have had this picture in my blog folder for a while so you may have seen it, but I love it so I am going to post it :) Such an amazing way to take something so traditional and make it your own.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Bryan! I love you!  If I had 25 hours to make you a cake, this is what I would make you :)

From here. The persons description: Cake done for bride and groom that love the music video. All the characters were individually cut out and hand detailed so no 2 are exactly alike. The cake is a replica of the stage. It took 25+ hrs to do everything!  Yep, it was for a wedding! Ha Watch the video here.

birds of a feather

UPDATE: check the comments for the Bride, Caroline’s details on her amazing wedding and tips on how to make yours amazing too, and within budget!

Going to the zoo is always a favorite of mine. You get to see all kinds of interesting animals that you really only ever get to see in a zoo, or on safari.  Which is why whenever we would come across the peacock pin I would wonder “what the heck are they doing in the zoo?”  You see my grandparents, up until a few years ago owned a lot of peacocks, which for most of my childhood would roam free in their huge backyard. My sisters and I would run out and pick up their gorgeous feathers, and we would often bring home peacock bouquets. Ever since then peacock feathers have held a special place in my heart. So when I saw this wedding, shot by Crystal and Mike of Toole Art Photography I had to ask if I could post it.  The bride, Caroline is gorgeous, the food looks amazing and the “cake” included Krispy Kremes! Enjoy:

Always good to end with cuppage :) Check out more of the amazing photos over at Toole Art Photography!

nothin better…

… than my mom’s homemade cookies :)  We will be giving them away as favors, and seeing how I won’t have anything to show you on them for at least another, well 8 months or so, I thought I would show you the basic idea :)

Brown window bags we bought from PaperMart ($20 for 100!)

Plus grey and marigold ribbon I got from etsy:

Plus my mom’s cookies (sorry, no picture) and some creative gocco action, should equal something like this:

(from Martha)

I think they will turn out awesome, not to mention delicious!

“totally awesome invitations”

That is what Bryan said, right after he sent me this link. You have got to check them out. It is so cool to see their wedding take full form, from the beginning thoughts to the very last detail. I mean, letterpress, pink flowers and… pixels?! Yep. Check it out.
