We Met in a Bar

Shop is now open!

(Can I just say how nerve racking it is to be doing this? Putting myself out there for sure…)

etsy banner blog

My etsy shop is now open! I am in love with these cards. Flat cards sewn with a few of my favorite fabrics, some vintage some not. I am a firm believer in paper mail and blank cards are the way to go. They are perfect for that last minute thank you or happy birthday.

shop preview!

Nothing like the last few weeks of maternity leave to get my butt into gear on opening up my etsy shop! I have a few more details to finish but the shop will be up this week and I will be giving away one of my card sets as well, so stay tuned. Here is a little preview for you, hope you had a good weekend!

Prototypes

A few card prototypes… Nothing like the end of maternity leave to light a fire under my ‘work from home selling my cards’ idea. Vintage fabric + textured paper + thread = love

Now the question is, Etsy or Big Cartel? Do you have a store on one of these? What is your opinion of it? I would love to hear your feedback on why you love/hate either one!

White ink

Finally mailing out the birth announcements. I compromised by designing them myself but had them printed by Moo. I’ll post the design once they get mailed out. Also, my new obsession is white ink on dark envelopes. I picked up the envelopes and pen at Paper Source. (the pen is a uni-ball signo broad if you are interested!)

wedding overload

I have had google reader for over a year now (I know, I was totally late to that party) and all the while I star things I like so that I can go back in later to either blog about them or use them for myself. Well it is of no surprise that this once wedding-centered blog has morphed into more of a baby blog as that is what is on my mind most of the time (btw, I am due in 4 days! yikes!!) Sooooo, I went through all of my starred posts and took out the wedding ones and have compiled them all into one big wedding extravaganza for you! I know, very exciting. Although my wedding was a year and a half ago my very good friend Natalie is getting married in June, and on top of that, well, weddings are just fun to look at. Here are some images that I found fun to look at over the last year:

announcements

I thought I would get a head start on birth announcements by checking out what Tiny Prints has to offer. Normally I would do them myself, and to be honest I probably still will, but I don’t want to be a total over achiever and assume that I will have time to hand make birth announcements. Here are two that I wouldn’t mind spending money on:

nursery update

Well, I finally finished the bumpers. They really weren’t that bad to make, but I hope I don’t have to do it again for a while. I used the pattern from Lotta’s book and they didn’t turn out half bad.

We wanted something bright and cheery and not too babyish and this yellow fabric was perfect. I used white ribbon for the ties, and stitched the ends closed with alternating yellow and blue thread. If we have a girl next and the bumpers are still good I figure we can just switch out the blue thread for pink and we will be all set.

We also picked up a few yellow and blue baskets from World Market this past weekend, which fit perfectly in our IKEA Expedit.

(don’t mind the hardware box and tools on the shelves.. those will be gone before baby comes!)

The nursery is getting closer, but there is still a lot to do and not very much time left to do it!

free download 2

Here is another little free download, in case you are looking for some better-than-basic labels for your holiday cards! You can download them here, or from my Downloads page. They work with Avery labels, 8 to a page (they didn’t provide a number, but you can see which ones here.) Also, the template does not include the outlines, I provided those here for you too see what they would look like.

Download the PDF.

If you wanted to, you could print these out on card stock and use a tag punch to turn them into gift tags. Enjoy!

free download

I wanted to share some gift tags that I created tonight, in case anyone out there is interested! Feel free to download them! You can find these, as well as my activity booklet, available for download on my downloads page.

I suggest printing these on 8 1/2″ x 11″ white card stock, trimming the tags and then hole-punching them at the top.
