inspiration to reality

So the day after I posted this inspiration post, I came home to find this waiting outside for me!

My mom is where I get all of my creativity from, as you can see. She had all of the components already and just whipped this up. Love it!

FLOR

We have been wanting to get some FLOR tiles to replace the rug in the kitchen… I am really liking the idea of creating a custom design by cutting them in half.

Off to the beach

Well, this bag will be off to the beach… once the sun decides to come out. July has proven to be a not so hot start to the summer.  I followed Holly’s tutorial, using canvas and a nice weight cotton. It took a lot longer than I expected (partly due to the interfacing, partly due to turning the handles right side out…) but I love it!  The top stitching isn’t perfect, and the sides don’t compleeeeetely match up, but it is exactly what I needed and I love the print. I can’t wait to fill it up with beach towels, magazines and snacks!

If I created the world…

A while back, after seeing this post, a friend of our gave us two old school globes.

Bryan, being a history major and all, was a little against them because they have countries that are no longer correct. So I thought, you know what would be cool? To paint them with chalkboard paint! Seriously guys, I had this thought about 3 days before this chalkboard globe made the rounds! My idea was now confirmed as awesome so this weekend I made it happen.

Two coats and one (sad) USA vs Ghana game later:

We might attempt to draw the continents (you can easily see the mountain ranges for a little guidance) but I kind of like the idea of our future children creating their own worlds on there.

Monday’s and thumbprints

Does anyone else need another weekend? I do.  Oh well, what can you do?

On to a happier topic, weddings! I have seen a new version of the guestbook popping up here and there and I wanted to get your opinion on it. It is the family tree/thumbprint version. Here are a few images I recently saw:

Did any of you do this at your wedding? Thinking about doing it? Been to a wedding that did it? It is super cute, and I am all for the guest books that you can frame! Obviously you would need to provide some type of wipe for guests, and make sure there are enough branches… but overall it seems like a great idea!

What do you think?
