done!
Woooo Hooooo! We finished our save the dates! Here is a little photo montage of the final product
The Save The Dates themselves. Paper bought at Paper Source, printed using my handy Gocco and white ink. I wish that the white would have printed a little whiter, but am overall happy with how they turned out

The assembly table. I used a marigold colored textured paper I found at Michael’s as the envelope liners. They were a bit thick, but with a nice ruler and my bone folder (yay martha!) they foldered over nicely. We used double sided tape to attach the liners. Glue works as well, but can come out bubbly sometimes, especially if you use a thin paper.

My youngest sister Megan (and bm) happily assembling them. (She was happy, I had just made us pancakes bacon and eggs
)

A close up. I went to Office Max to buy a sealer thingy, and the lady gave me these cheap just add water ones… let’s just say I totally thought I was going to end up like Susan from Seinfeld.

All finished! Well, except for those top two… which still need addresses… (ahem, bryan)
I would have liked to use vintage stamps, but couldn’t easily find a stamp store where they sold face value stamps, and I am scared of ebay, so I just used the heart stamp they have at the post office right now. I also hand addressed them myself. Not the nicest looking, but more personal than a label. With that said, I love me some labels, and hopefully will use some on the invitations, I just couldn’t find any I wanted to use on these

Whew! All done, and I am so so happy with them! We will get them out into the mail on Friday and I will go ahead and say that I hope people contact us with compliments
I’m not gonna lie. I know that DIY invitations are not for everyone, but if you are confident in your design skills, I would say to go for it. We spent maybe $50 on 45 save the dates, including the postage. Not bad
I hope you all have a wonderful wonderful thanksgiving! I won’t be posting tomorrow, but possibly on Friday. I have my first dress fitting that morning so I will let you know how it goes

gocco round dos
Tonight’s post is later than normal, but it will take place of my early morning post on Wednesday. I have wed.-fri. off of work so tomorrow my younger sister is coming over for some pancakes and envelope liner assembling! I did give up on designing my own (B and I just couldn’t agree on the ‘perfect’ one) so we are using some awesome textured marigold colored paper I had bought at michael’s during the friends and family event.
Tonight I gocco’d our return address on the Save the Date envelopes. The mustard color looks to be a little glittery… but we will see once it dries if that goes away
You can see on the overview shot a little mock up of the finished look
*interruption: Bryan just brought me home an apple pie from McDonalds. Best. Fiance. Ever.
On to the images. I will be back tomorrow afternoon with progress pictures!!

progress
Happy Monday! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is this week… time flies
This weekend was a very productive one on the wedding front, we gocco’d our save the dates! It took a lot more ink than I imagined…

But our new Ikea dinner table substituted nicely for a work table

And all in all, we are pretty happy with them! The white didn’t print as white as I would have liked (but it is whiter in real life than in these pictures), and it isn’t 100% centered, but other than that I love them! Not to mention they only cost about $25 when all is said and done :)

I also addressed all but 5 of the envelopes (who knew i needed significant others last names?!) We were going to print the addresses on labels but since we didn’t have any on hand and I couldn’t decide which labels we would even want to use, I decided that my handwriting isn’t all that bad and did them myself. We did decide that we are going to gocco our return address on the back, so that will need to be done, and I need to cut and assemble all of the envelope liners, but with only 45 save the dates going out, we should be done by this week! Woohooooooo!
Did you complete any wedding tasks this weekend? oh! A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Jenny, who got married on Saturday! Woo Woo

sshhh
ok, don’t tell Bryan that I am talking about Christmas before Thanksgiving, but I had to post this
Ok, so this craft project is meant for children… and November. But I am drawn to all advent calendars so whatever. My mom has this advent calendar with little pockets which she would fill with candy and each day of December my sisters and I would switch off moving the mouse to collect the candy and distribute the 3 pieces. This is my second December out of the house and it still makes me sad that I am not there to move the mouse. What can I say, I am all about tradition. See the how-to post here. (I know you are trying to convert this into a wedding project… don’t lie.)

the beginning
of our save the dates.
Well, we finally committed to a design, and there is no turning back. Especially because I already burned the gocco screen
Here is a little peak into the beginning of our paper suite.
The printed master

The burnt screen. Sorry it is hard to see, trying to get a good effect

A massive headache left me in bed all weekend, so we weren’t able to go to Paper Source to get the supplies to print them all
Hopefully that will happen this week!

because i know you want to know
what i am thinking about my wedding at every moment. I have decided. I am going to design my own envelope liners. We have found a few we like.

But none worth the money they are charging. So, I will attempt my own. It can’t be that hard, right?

without further ado
I present the Save the Dates I designed for my friend (and bridesmaid) Lauren

They’re pretty great, but I may be biased
Their flowers are going to be pretty much all orchids, and they are using purple and chartreuse as their main colors
They were a blast to work on, and I can’t wait to start designing the invite! Thanks again to Jessica for providing the orchid image! You are a life saver!

busy busy
Work is (actually) busy today, so sorry for the lack of posting
I have only read 2 blogs today!!! ha Plus I got a rush order on some wedding photo editing so my nights are full right now, but I am super excited to show you some of the images I have been working on, they are amazing! So to apologize for the lack of posting today I am going to show a picture.. which is from a wedding… from a friend of a friend of a friend… which I found on facebook
Yes, I stalk weddings on facebook too
Nah, I kid I kid. All I can tell you background wise on this picture is that there was a ceremony and reception in Cabo San Lucas, which is where the pic is from. The couple then had a second reception at a local art museum, which is awesome in itself.
I love the feel of this, with the lime as a place card (there were some awesome pictures of the bride throwing down some mexican cerveza
) and the very cool menu. I’m not sure if this was a DIY for the bride, but it is easily doable!

around the corner
I love the look of these corners. My little sister works for Michael’s Craft Store and this week is their appreciation week so family members get 50% off of everything! I will be stocking up on some great stuff, and will keep my eye out for a corner rounder that does this
