in need of

a brooch. Well, my seamstress said it would look nice, and the one she had was, so I am gonna start looking for one. I am going to take a cue from Please Sir and hit up the local antique stores.

to top it all off

I recently saw a post about how Anthropologie has some great headbands that could totally be rocked for your big day. I stopped by to check them out for myself and found some lovelies. I think I may have to buy the bottom one. It is so pretty!

knock off!!!!!!!

Oh. my. goodness.

I just found out that my Davids Bridal dress is a knock off! I am sure most are, but I had no idea. My first dress shopping experience I fell in love with 2 Jim Hjelm dresses, neither of which is the knock off. You can see those dresses here.

I ended up buying this dress from Davids Bridal.

And I just now discovered this dress from Jim Hjelm! Click on the “more views” button! Same exact dress!

I am so excited! I knew I loved my dress, but knowing that it is a knockoff from one of my favorite dress designers, well, that just made my day!

just a little change

So I have been thinking about what I want to do with my grandmothers wedding dress.

It is super chic (the little jacket comes off and without the pouf skirt underneath it is more streamlined) and it fits me perfectly.  I decided not to wear it as ‘the dress’ since it is a little discolored from sitting inside a tiny box in a chest somewhere for 50 years, and due to the formalness of our church I wanted to go with a floor length gown.  Since our wedding is during the day, we will be doing dinner with our families that night and probably some local bar action with any brave guests that night. I am wondering if I could get it altered into something like this:

Wouldn’t that be so gorgeous?! It has the same tulip fringe top and a seam right wear the skirt would start… Maybe I will bring it to my first alterations appointment and see what Mahtab can do :) Oh, after I ask my mom of course! (Mom? What do you think?!)

I am so confused

Who the heck is this girl?!

Untitled from Tavi G on Vimeo.

She is 12. Check out her blog. It’s crazy. Style Rookie… if she is a rookie well… that makes me someone who got cut from the team.

the groom

May I interrupt for a moment? I just wanted to say that last night B and I went to Anthropologie and I bought the first part of my bridesmaids gifts :) Wooohoooo. Also, it was very hard to not buy, um, everything else in that store.

Back to the wedding. This groom definitely has some style. Shot by him.
