light my fire

Before deciding on homemade cookies as favors, I was totally on the Matches bandwagon. Bryan… not so much. The problem was I didn’t want the plain book of matches with our names in silver. (Those are cute, just not for me :) )  I love this box of matches from Cox & Cox. Then I saw a post on one of the blogs I read (sorry, I can’t remember which one!!) on these matches from Areo, and they would be amazing wedding favors if you found one that fit your scheme!

nothin better…

… than my mom’s homemade cookies :)  We will be giving them away as favors, and seeing how I won’t have anything to show you on them for at least another, well 8 months or so, I thought I would show you the basic idea :)

Brown window bags we bought from PaperMart ($20 for 100!)

Plus grey and marigold ribbon I got from etsy:

Plus my mom’s cookies (sorry, no picture) and some creative gocco action, should equal something like this:

(from Martha)

I think they will turn out awesome, not to mention delicious!

mmm

I made cupcakes last night for no reason… they were good :) I think this (above) is the biggest cupcake-cake i have ever seen! And sometimes, it isn’t as much about that taste as it is the packaging. Not to say that these (below) Sprinkles cupcakes don’t taste good, but they are like $3 a cupcake…  But when it comes all pre-packaged and perfect like that… it almost makes it worth the price :)

(pictures from here and from here)

P.S. Yaaaaaay for Pam and Jim! And poor Toby!

mmm coooookies

ok, so our favors. We went back and forth. First it was moleskins goccoed with personal designs and engraved pencils (kind of expensive, and how many people would really appreciate them?!), then it was matches (meh) and then I went over budget on my dress and the reception venue, so we needed something on the cheap. Edible favors were our best bet, so i thought about salt water taffy (B isn’t a fan). Then I thought, “who doesn’t love my mom’s cookies?!”  And that is what we will do :) I am super excited. We bought some really cute brown paper bags with glassine windows and those tin top/tie things. I had planned on pre-packing them, but then i saw this on TBC by Rebecca Thuss:

Well, I am out of here early today for some family business, so enjoy your weekend and I’ll be back on Monday!
