The cellar is a semi-new wine bar in San Clemente and it is one of our favorite new places. It serves delicious tapas style food, serves its water from glass bottles and poured into mason jars.

They also have an awesome looking menu.

The menu changes every few months and during the day they sell cheeses and wine out of the front of the place.  They have live piano every night and stay open late, which in San Clemente means anything open after 9pm I would totally recommend it for a small daytime reception or rehearsal lunch. The place is gorgeous, the food is delicious… it really is a win win.

Doesn’t that picture just make you drool?!  My mouth is totally watering right now. If I had my way, I would eat mexican food every day, and drink mexican beer, well, every weekend No beer bellies here please!

And with that I bid you ado. I am off to VEGAS for my friends bachelorette party and I. am. so. excited. I need this weekend.

… was my name in spanish class And then when I worked as a server and the bussers and cooks would have  a hard time pronouncing ‘Heather’ I told them to call me Sofia. So maybe i just like the name. Maybe it is the pink cans. Maybe I just love champagne. Whatever it is, I love it!

Well look at all of you delurking! You must have felt pretty strongly about that bow huh?! haha I love that so many of you commented, you should do it more often! This whole blogging thing is such a community, a support for all of us whose friends have had it with us talking wedding all the time. If I had asked my friends “bow or no bow?” they probably would have said ‘meh’ and I would have had to decide on my own!  So, thank you for your comments, we will for sure be going no bow on the taller thinner jars and I am gonna experiment with bows (around the neck!) on the actual Ball jars, since they have a more prominent neck to hold the ribbon  I will post pictures soon!

Oh, and an update (cause you all are my community ) on the gelato! So we said we would give them till February, it is February, so we dropped them.  The last real email I sent them was over 2 weeks ago asking some detailed questions about the size of the cart, what the set up entailed etc. and I heard nothing back. I mean, I first contacted them in August, and the most I have gotten out of them is a price sheet and finding out we were on their calendar… I do not want to work with a company that has such horrible communication. So I sent them (the store manager and I cc’d his manager) this email:

“Due to a lack of communication on your part, we will no longer be needing your services for our July 18th event.”

Well, who do you think called me yesterday?! The managers manager! Ha  At first he had no idea what they had done wrong. I had to explain to him that sending me a price sheet and saying I am on your calendar isn’t exactly the details I was looking for. He tried to say that they just always say ‘yes’ to their customers so they didn’t think much into it.  By the end of the conversation I had gotten across to him that I am planning an event (a low-key-no-stress-least-event-ever-event) and needed a few more details than a price sheet and a “see you in july!”  He was very nice and very apologetic and maybe we will use them for our kids first birthday party. But not the wedding. Not my big event

SO. We stopped by a local bakery Saturday and spoke to the owner and got a list of their cakes. Want to hear one?

Princess: Three layer white cake filled with fresh bavarian cream and raspberries, surrounded with roasted hazelnuts and topped with fresh whipped cream and a layer of marzipan.

I am excited. We are definitely in the ‘reception’ planning stage, so I am reposting my own reception inspiration board, just as a reminder  Have a good morning everyone!!

Back to work Monday I say we move to the 4 day work week here in America. Let’s get a vote going and then I will send it to Obama. 

In other news, the gelato guy has STILL  not emailed me back. We said we would give him until February… which is a mere 5 days away… After that, small cakes it is!

I just grabbed a Watermelon jolly rancher from the management office…. took me all the way back to 1996. Crazy.

Anyways, the recent talk of san pellegrino “favors” got me thinking again about gooco’d napkins. I love the look of these.

What are your opinions on not giving out favors? I am thinking maybe no favors, and instead getting these (or maybe the orange ones to go more with the color theme) and having the guests greeted by waiters with trays of them when they arrive at the reception. (sneaky idea: this will give them something to drink to hold them off going to the bar for at least a few minutes )

Dude. I don’t know where you live (and if it somewhere where it gets below zero outside, skip to the next paragraph) but it is flippen freezing outside! Like, less than 50 degrees out freezing. I can’t feel my hands or my toes.  I don’t think it should be allowed to get this cold without at least giving us some snow.  But that is just me

Ok. So it is a new year With the craziness that was the holidays, I kind of put wedding planning on the back burner, and now is the time to start it up again. Here are some things I am thinking about right now.

I need to call florists this week. 

May be kicking the homemade cookie favor idea to keep us sane. Now what?

Can we do this? And where would we put them?

I need to talk to our reception venue coordinator about brining in my own napkins and or coasters.

Maybe these for my maids?

We need to create a cool map. 

The guy from the gelato company has not gotten back to me in about 2 months. I emailed his boss last week. We have decided to give them until the end of the month to communicate with us. If they don’t (we will be bummed cause a gelato cart would be awesome) we may go this route (which would cost half as much

Ok, so here they are, my 6 resolutions for 2009.

1. Get healthy. Wether that is by eating more organic and locally grown food or working out more, I need to get healthy.  I have been blessed with a fast metabolism and one of these days it is going to slow down and I will actually need to workout, and I should be prepared. Also I want to have a healthy strong body for babies. (one day, not today )

2. Grow my business. I want to do more freelance work, more of the work that I love, and head toward a career that I am excited about.

3. Take more pictures. I was a photography major, and I think that once school was finished and I started a ‘real’ non-photography job, I just stopped taking the time to get the camera out. I want to open that creative outlet again.

4. Get back into church. I worked in the children’s ministry at my church for almost 5 years, and if you have ever worked at your church, you know, it can be draining. Church was work to me. And after I stopped working there, I guess I just needed a break. I didn’t go for a while (who knew sleeping in on Sunday’s could be so wonderful?!) and although B and I do go now once in a while, I need to go more.

5. Learn to be a better fiance/wife. We can all be better at who we are, and Bryan deserves the best that  I can give him.

6. Learn to (really) cook.  I am trying, but I have a long way to go. Hopefully my Christmas present will help

So there you have it. My 6 resolutions. I am going for quality here, not quantity. Cause if you look at my to-do list for 2009, well, let’s just say there are more than 6 bullet points on that sucker   I was going to do a second honeymoon post today, but I was just told we get to leave at noon today (yay!) so this will be my last post in 2008!
