new year
Dude. I don’t know where you live (and if it somewhere where it gets below zero outside, skip to the next paragraph) but it is flippen freezing outside! Like, less than 50 degrees out freezing. I can’t feel my hands or my toes. I don’t think it should be allowed to get this cold without at least giving us some snow. But that is just me
Ok. So it is a new year
With the craziness that was the holidays, I kind of put wedding planning on the back burner, and now is the time to start it up again. Here are some things I am thinking about right now.
I need to call florists this week.

May be kicking the homemade cookie favor idea to keep us sane. Now what?

Can we do this? And where would we put them?

I need to talk to our reception venue coordinator about brining in my own napkins and or coasters.

Maybe these for my maids?
I like this makeup.

We need to create a cool map.

The guy from the gelato company has not gotten back to me in about 2 months. I emailed his boss last week. We have decided to give them until the end of the month to communicate with us. If they don’t (we will be bummed cause a gelato cart would be awesome) we may go this route (which would cost half as much

See, just a few thoughts
Also, we have our engagement Encounter weekend this weekend
Should be fun!

Ok, so here they are, my 6 resolutions for 2009.
1. Get healthy. Wether that is by eating more organic and locally grown food or working out more, I need to get healthy. I have been blessed with a fast metabolism and one of these days it is going to slow down and I will actually need to workout, and I should be prepared. Also I want to have a healthy strong body for babies. (one day, not today
)

2. Grow my business. I want to do more freelance work, more of the work that I love, and head toward a career that I am excited about.

3. Take more pictures. I was a photography major, and I think that once school was finished and I started a ‘real’ non-photography job, I just stopped taking the time to get the camera out. I want to open that creative outlet again.

(pic by me for some class in college)
4. Get back into church. I worked in the children’s ministry at my church for almost 5 years, and if you have ever worked at your church, you know, it can be draining. Church was work to me. And after I stopped working there, I guess I just needed a break. I didn’t go for a while (who knew sleeping in on Sunday’s could be so wonderful?!) and although B and I do go now once in a while, I need to go more.

(pic by me on one of the mexico mission trips with my church)
5. Learn to be a better fiance/wife. We can all be better at who we are, and Bryan deserves the best that I can give him.

6. Learn to (really) cook. I am trying, but I have a long way to go. Hopefully my Christmas present will help

So there you have it. My 6 resolutions. I am going for quality here, not quantity. Cause if you look at my to-do list for 2009, well, let’s just say there are more than 6 bullet points on that sucker
I was going to do a second honeymoon post today, but I was just told we get to leave at noon today (yay!) so this will be my last post in 2008! See you back here in ‘09!

wish list
Seeing how Christmas is coming up, I have decided to start a wish list. And who better to start it off but Ms. Martha herself.

(here)
*Disclaimer: This is a wish list, as in I don’t really expect to get any of this. I am not a greedy person, just a compulsive shopper
With the economy the way it is (crappy) this Holiday season will be filled with family, love, great food, and handmade gifts
Which I do anyways, except this year instead of looking cheap I will look like I am accommodating to these hard times very well

nothin better…
… than my mom’s homemade cookies
We will be giving them away as favors, and seeing how I won’t have anything to show you on them for at least another, well 8 months or so, I thought I would show you the basic idea
Brown window bags we bought from PaperMart ($20 for 100!)

Plus grey and marigold ribbon I got from etsy:

Plus my mom’s cookies (sorry, no picture) and some creative gocco action, should equal something like this:

(from Martha)
I think they will turn out awesome, not to mention delicious!

vendor numero dos
On to vendor two from the event last night. (Re-cap if you are just joining me, my good friend Lauren is engaged to an event sales manager for a catering company, and he got us into a ‘The Knot” sponsored vendor event last night)
This vendor is one of those “oh, if i had the money….” vendors for me. Lattes on Location.

Again a vendor serving Orange and Los Angeles Counties. These two women were great. Very speedy and they offered lots of different kinds of coffee drinks, of which I ordered a cappuccino, which didn’t require any sugar cubes!

Plus look at how cool it is! A great way to continue to entertain your guests!
I may have said I had three vendors to talk about… if I did, i lied. The last one was going to be a limo company, but seeing how a limo is a limo, and there are a million limo companies, and I can’t really say anything about them, except that they were playing wedding crashers on the screens (which was a good choice, but who is going to be watching a movie when you just got married?!) I have decided not to revue them. I know, don’t be mad

vendor numero uno
Ok, so the first vendor I wanted to spotlight from last nights shin dig is ‘Thank Goodness it’s Sofia’ Catering and Event company.

This is a catering company located in Long Beach, but they serve all of southern california and further, i think! They provided all of the food at the event last night, and it was sooooo yummy! I love all things mini, so when we were handed things like chicken tamale popsicles (mmm) and club sandwiches 3 inches tall the diameter of a quarter, I was in love. Seriously, small food is so much better than normal sized food!

How good does that lettuce wrap look?! They are first and foremost caterers, but they have a team that will help you with all of your event needs including rentals and other vendors.

Now, you may think I am biased since it is my great friends fiance who is the event sales manager at T.G.I.S., but I would not lie to people about food. It is too important. All I can say, is I can not wait until April 25th to go to their reception, cause I know it is going to be filled with lots of amazing mini food. MMM… Jeremy, if you are reading this, in exchange for doing your invitations (I know I said they were a gift but…) you can just supply me with some more of those chicken tamale popsicles and club sandwich skewers. Thanks
(I kid, I kid)
Need a caterer? Check them out!
