veil
Saturday my mom, my sisters, my moms friend and I are going to LA to hit up the flower mart, the fabric store and the giant Michael’s-ish store. I am super excited. My mom will be looking for material for my veil
Today she sent me some pictures of veil pattern coers and I fell in love with the look of this one. Look at the little hat things. So old school. Me? I will be sticking with a cathedral length veil, simple, without lace or anything sparkly, and a blusher. Because for whatever reason I really want to have one

the other side of the table
Good morning! Well ladies (and gentlemen) today is my last day of unemployment :) Woo hoo! I would like to thank Apple One for getting me the interview
In bridal news, yesterday was the first annual Bridal Fair by the Sea, held at Casa Romantica in San Clemente, CA. Rather than being a guest at this event, I sat on the other side of the table as I helped out Matthew Morgan. It was fun being on the other side, knowing exactly what the girls are going through, seeing the wide varieties of brides. Plus I got to sneak off and see some of the many vendors they had there and hit up the free champagne and food! Our booth was right next to the Donna B’s Bakery booth which was tempting the entire day! The brides had to pay $10 to get in, but I think it was worth it. They each got a goody bag and then at the end of the event they had a giveaway. Most of the vendors gave something, from free lash extensions to a free engagement shoot. But there were also 2 grand prizes, a honeymoon in Cancun and then a $15,000 dream wedding! (Which, don’t get me wrong, would be a great prize to win, but some of the gifts were, for example, a $500 gift cert. to a florist, which we all know is not going to cover the cost of flowers. But still, it made a bride very very happy!)
Anyways, one of the booths I saw that I liked was from Denise Empry, who in addition to hair and makeup does custom jewelry, as well as ready made jewelry and veils. Here were some of my favorites:

And they also sell Sara Gabriel headpieces and veils, which we all know and love from this picture:

She is located in Newport Beach for all of you southern california brides looking for custom pieces and unique headpieces!

Monday Monday
Well, here I am at work, while Bryan sleeps in… I hate when he gets days off that I don’t! Oh well, enough complaining. The weather is gorgeous and since he is home all day maybe he will be a sweetheart and fix the vacuum cleaner
Ok, on to wedding decisions. For the flowers we are going a whole new route! My mother collects mason jars (mostly the blue ones) and while at the antique store yesterday I decided that I would grow the collection and we will use those for the vases
I will get some pictures up soon
Next decision is on hair. I think I am going to put it up. Down would be pretty, but since my hair doesn’t really hold a curl I don’t want it to be all flat and stringy by the end of the day. The front will probably look like this due to my side bang things:

And then for the back I am deciding between formal:

And less formal:

Decisions, decisions. Hope you all had a good weekend!

don’t do drugs
So last night I had the worst toothache, and being the good fiance he is, Bryan gave me something for it. He coaches and used to play sports a lot so he has some prescription strength, well, prescriptions that in desperate situations I take. Usually I only take half a pill because I am paranoid that something will react badly (I am that girl… never smoked a cigarette or done pot let alone anything stronger) So I take the whole thing, toothache goes away, we watch the new Law and Order and I fall asleep. Well, apparently little pills make me dream about weddings. I don’t remember the whole thing, but there are a few parts that stand out…
It is the morning of the wedding. My sister, or someone, maybe me, put my hair up and it looked good (good to dream heather… real heather thinks it looked too french twist-ish), so I said “Do I even need my hairdresser to do it?” Then it was time for makeup… My bm Natalie will be doing my makeup and in the dream she hadn’t done any trial runs so we figured we would just wing it. This worries me because I really don’t wear much makeup and without a trial run… I don’t remember the actual wedding… strange.
I think that this image (with the help of the pill of course) is what spurred the dream. I love the look of her hair, which has started an internal struggle. Down and curly or up? Up or down and curly?

I have been thinking about ‘the hair’ a little too much I think… Any of you have weird wedding dreams lately?

hold it right there!
Good morning! It is a cold (but only like 60 something, it is supposed to be nice today
) brisk morning on this last day on 2008. I don’t know how you feel about it, but where the heck did the time go?! Personally I am excited for 2009. Excited to get married, travel (i have another destination question for you all later), move (our lease is up in November
) and to turn a quarter of a century. Freakin 25. When did I become an adult? This post is going to be about hair, but later I will ask for some tips on another honeymoon location, and I will finally complete the 6 interesting things about me tag I received from The Coffee Girl. But I think I may morph it into 6 resolutions, given the day and all.
Ok, on to hair. So, I have long, straight blonde hair. It has always been like that. Except 6th grade where I tried out the bob. Not terrible, but obviously not cute enough to keep it going. I don’t like to style it. I do put a flat iron on it to smooth it down, but if I were to just never blow dry it or anything, it would be… straight. And it detests the word curly. I don’t, it’s the hair.
Example. In 7th grade I was in Bye Bye Birdie at school. (Huge mistake, but whatever. I still have nightmares about the audition we had to do in front of class… singing… in front of 7th graders.) I had to wear my hair in a ponytail with the ends curled. I slept in rollers. I used three cans of hairspray. I had to re-curl my hair at every 5 minute break I had (big surprise I didn’t get a very big part) And by the end of the show my hair was one big, hair-sprayed straight mess.
So, you can see my dilemma when I fall in love with hairstyles like this:

Maybe my stylist has some magical fairy dust that makes straight hair that hates curls forget for a few hours…

to top it all off
I recently saw a post about how Anthropologie has some great headbands that could totally be rocked for your big day. I stopped by to check them out for myself and found some lovelies. I think I may have to buy the bottom one. It is so pretty!

the hair
As promised, this gorgeous wedding shot by Matthew Morgan, edited by me. First, her hair. It is definitely going in my hair inspiration folder. I love seeing what it takes to make a hair do
Keep checking back today for more, I have about 4 or so posts on this wedding.
