birds of a feather

UPDATE: check the comments for the Bride, Caroline’s details on her amazing wedding and tips on how to make yours amazing too, and within budget!

Going to the zoo is always a favorite of mine. You get to see all kinds of interesting animals that you really only ever get to see in a zoo, or on safari.  Which is why whenever we would come across the peacock pin I would wonder “what the heck are they doing in the zoo?”  You see my grandparents, up until a few years ago owned a lot of peacocks, which for most of my childhood would roam free in their huge backyard. My sisters and I would run out and pick up their gorgeous feathers, and we would often bring home peacock bouquets. Ever since then peacock feathers have held a special place in my heart. So when I saw this wedding, shot by Crystal and Mike of Toole Art Photography I had to ask if I could post it.  The bride, Caroline is gorgeous, the food looks amazing and the “cake” included Krispy Kremes! Enjoy:

Always good to end with cuppage :) Check out more of the amazing photos over at Toole Art Photography!

holy moly

I found this gorgeous wedding over on Leigh Miller’s blog and had to ask if I could post it! I am told that Kathryn over at Snippet and Ink is going to feature it too, I am guessing on Saturday, so make sure to check over there as I am sure she will have more details for you. All I have (and all i really need) are the pictures :) Leigh tells me that this wedding was sans planner, and wow, Christine and Reggie really pulled off a spectacular event! Ok, enough from me, check out their pictures:

Seriously. Gorgeous. Thanks Leigh for being an amazing photographer :)

some pretty pictures

I said a while ago that I was helping out a photographer friend of mine with his editing (yay for having a growing wedding photography business and needing to enlist help!)  Well he just posted a few of the weddings I helped with on his blog :) Here are some of my favorites.

gorgeous

Ok, I was looking through my “to blog about” folder, and it is overflowing! I keep saving them for days when I don’t have anything in particular to write about, but I think I add more to it then i use up, so posts will be heavy for the next week or so :) How gorgeous are these photos from Our labor of Love?  Love the dresses (grey!) and the bouquets… simply gorgeous.

Oh, and a side note, I was totally on the ball and refreshed the page just in time to see the newest items up on the Nie Nie etsy sale and had my eye on some gorgeous earrings, when a guy from the tech department comes up and starts asking me about fonts! He just walked away and when i went back… the earrings, and pretty much everything else, had been scooped up :( Yay for NieNie but boo for me.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, So i think, well no, I know, we found our photographer! His name is Miah, I found him through our church directory, and as soon as I turned to the first page of the first album he showed us, I was hooked. I hope he doesn’t mind I stole these off his blog, so if you take them, please link back to Studio7 photography! Behold, the beauty that is the team of Miah and Mike!

(I went to high school with her! hi becky!)

(a picture in the gardens we will have access to :) )

(also from the mission adjoined with our church)

(wasn’t I just saying I wanted a picture like this?!)

(also friends of mine! congrats Kristen and Dave!)

Seriously I am so stoked and so incredibly blessed that Miah has made it possible for us to have our big day captured in such a beautiful way. He is so talented. If you are in need of a photographer, definitely check them out!

Photography

I added a new link category for the photographers that I love :) Be sure to check them out! I will be adding more as I find them :)  We don’t have our photographer booked yet… it seems that our budget + my insane love for amazing photography don’t seem to be agreeing at the moment. We have an appointment tomorrow with a photographer who is friends with my grandmother… I’ll let you know how it goes :) I leave you this week with a picture that I hope to re-enact at our wedding. I think it will work quite nicely on the big balcony overlooking the harbor.

exactly.

So I have mentioned before my issue with my flower girls/junior bridesmaids/cousins who need to walk down the aisle doing something.  Since the DOC for the church is anti-pomanders, I thought that it would be cute for them to hold a little sign that says “here comes the bride.” B wasn’t too fond of the idea, but then I saw this:

How adorable is that?! Granted my girls are about 10, and I would have them each holding an end of the pole with the banner on it… but I am beginning to like this idea…

matthew morgan photography

I haven’t talked about this tidbit of my life yet, but aside from my design job I do some freelance editing work for a wedding photographer friend of mine, Matthew Morgan.  It is such a great experience, editing wedding pictures while planning my wedding. You only ever see a handful of someone’s wedding pictures, and it is a blast to see every image from start to finish, and to see how different brides have such different and unique weddings!

Some of the latest ones I have worked on are still making their way to their brides, so I have taken some (ok, a lot) of my favorite images from his blog

There you have it, my favorites :) Matthew works out of Southern California but is open to shooting anywhere and everywhere so if you are sill looking for your photographer, check him out, you won’t be disappointed! Thanks again to Matt for the beautiful images!
