Paper n Stitch

*Seeing how like 75% of my readers probably couldn’t see the old school pictures, I will repost those once I fix the problem :)

Today Vane posted about this new shop, Paper N Stitch. I went to check it out and of course found a few items for myself :) Just to look at, of course! This girl is saving for a wedding!

(from seller Avril Loreti. How cute would these be for a bridal shower?!)

(from seller Colleen Baran. When Bryan and I first talked about getting a ‘placeholder ring’ until I got my ‘real’ engagement ring, this is the kind of thing i had in mind :) He went in the other direction. you know, the diamond from tiffany’s direction :) )

(from the seller Dozi. I love journals… but i never seem to write in them for more than a few days…)

(from seller Luxe Deluxe. This is just cool :) )

(from seller Miss. Crowland. These are pretty ‘in’ for weddings right now, you could easily scan them and use them as an accent in your paper and decorations :) )

(from seller Paige Russel. I have always liked the look of these)

(from seller Royal Buffet. A cool Paris inspired spinning mobile)

“totally awesome invitations”

That is what Bryan said, right after he sent me this link. You have got to check them out. It is so cool to see their wedding take full form, from the beginning thoughts to the very last detail. I mean, letterpress, pink flowers and… pixels?! Yep. Check it out.

the ring :)

I love my ring.

Most blogs I read do a “bling” post, and I decided today it is time for mine :)   Let me start by saying that B and I aren’t your average engaged couple. There was no getting down on one knee, no surprise proposal. We were “unofficially” engaged for almost a year before I got my ring. And when I got it, we picked it out together and he put it on me right there in front of the Tiffany’s saleswoman.

You see, B and I are both very practical people.  Especially me. I don’t date a guy unless I think marriage is an option (which is why I have only had 2 boyfriends, including B) so we were talking “one day” “our kids” etc. much earlier than we started talking about our wedding day.  When we decided we wanted to get married, we were both excited, but to some people, no ring meant no wedding plans :)   So I waited. And waited. And waited. Until one day I couldn’t wait anymore (I had already started buying Martha Wedding magazines, and I wanted to plan my wedding darnit!). We “talked” about it, and decided that saving for a house and being financially secure was more important than having a big rock on my finger, so the next day we went to Tiffany’s (his idea :)  )

The original plan was to have me wear this for a while, and then one day, when more money had been saved, there would be a ‘real’ ring with a ‘real’ proposal. Well, after wearing it for a few weeks I decided. This was a ‘real’ ring, and what was the point of a ‘real’ proposal when we had already decided?

Thus, the story of my ring. I love it. It is simple and represents what an engagement ring is suppose to, that we have made a commitment to each other.  Plus, it is really fun to watch people try and say something nice about it after the shock of seeing it ;)   You see, we live in Orange County, home of massive bling. But you know what, more often than not I get people praising it, commenting on how refreshing it is, how simply elegant. Yes, that is what we were going for… elegant… ;)   I think it has also taught me to simply say “congratulations” when someone tells me they are engaged. If she offers her hand, great, let me look at that sparkler! But if not, then a simple congratulations is in order. And, if you pull that hand from by her side, you better be prepared with something nice to say. I recommend “simply elegant”.

what to do, what to do.

Ok, so the original plan was my only boy cousin, A, would be ring bearer, and my two youngest girl cousins, K & H, would be flower girls.  That plan changed when the church told us that tossing flower petals was a big no-no. So what to do with K & H? I thought about junior bridesmaids, but that doesn’t really make sense because then the question would be “why them”. It worked as flower girls but junior bridesmaids… hmm… So I have thought of a few options.

All three could walk down together, with A holding the rings and K & H holding flowers or something like this:

(i’m sorry i forgot where I found this, if it is yours please let me know!)

And then somewhere I read about having a child carry a little sign that says “Here Comes the Bride” and I think that that has some real potential! Maybe have the banner on a pole with each girl holding an end…

Do you plan on having your flower girls do something other than carry flowers? I am open to all ideas!!

UPDATE: As I spoke with our church’s wedding coordinator for the first time tonight, we came to flower girls and she is all ” some have the girls carry these… well.. they look like styrofoam balls with flowers in it… They just look awful, I don’t see any beauty in those.” haha  granted she is in her 70’s, but still, it was awesome. I don’t think I was going to have them, but now for Eloise, the pomanders are out :)

late night

So it is pretty rare that I have a night where I have no design work to do. Usually when I can get away with not working into the night I do whatever I can to put away my computer and look at the real world for a while :) However, tonight was an exception. I have yet to do an inspiration board, i think mostly because there are just so many amazing ideas out there that trying to narrow them down into just a few images would seem so confining.

However, now that i have my dress, the church, the reception venue (still trying not to jinx this) and more of a vision of what MY wedding will be like, I was able to put together a few boards. Yes, a few. I still couldn’t narrow it down to just one :)

Here are the first two boards. This first one is the fashion board. I do already have my dress, and it is lace, which I am so so happy with. I love the look of the mans grey suit, the woman’s headband, the clean look of pearls, and the uniform look of bridesmaids :)

This next one is rings and paper. I love the idea of the accordion program, and will most likely use it. The ring bowl from Palomas Nest is very modern and would be perfect to keep our rings in on an everyday basis. The three rings below are gorgeous. I will have to show a picture of my ring one day, it is not your average engagement ring, and I kind of enjoy watching people try to find something sweet to say when they see it… is that evil? Anyways, the ring with the 4 bigger diamonds on it, that it the kind of wedding band I would like (*ahem*).  The paper suite on the bottom right is just executed so well.

(images are found in mixed places, from Style me Pretty, A Practical Wedding, The Bride’s Guide, Snippet and Ink, Junebug Weddings, and i think that is it. Please let me know if I left you out!)

I will post the rest of the boards (yes, there are more :) ) over the rest of the week.  Now, it is time for the computer to go away and the olympics to begin. Go USA!

some inspiration for a friday morning

If “it’s the brides wedding, she gets whatever she wants and the groom gets to sit down and shut up” were true for us. (Thank God it isn’t, but I do love this palette!) From here.
