We Met in a Bar

real wedding 1.3

Happy Tuesday :) I wanted to share with you a real wedding today. Not only is the bride and her party gorgeous, but the photography was superb! All images shot by Matthew Morgan Photographers and edited by me.  One thing to notice here is the bridesmaids. Each wore a different black dress and different black shoes, but they all wore a dark red sash, which really tied the look together, no pun intended :)  Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 later today!

perfect

I am loving this poster sold by etsy seller dazeychic. I think posters are a great gift idea for a low-budget christmas! Check out the rest of her posters, she has some great ones :)

Just stick a 4×6 photo in the center and wham! A pretty awesome frame within a frame.

(buy it here, found via here)

Make sure to check back tomorrow for another real wedding :)  Good night!

better late than never

I have had this picture in my blog folder for a while so you may have seen it, but I love it so I am going to post it :) Such an amazing way to take something so traditional and make it your own.

the shoes

well, at least for now. I needed to buy my wedding shoes by December 15th, in time for my second fitting. Who knew finding the perfect shoes would be this difficult. I found these at Bandolino, and am 75% sure about them. I know that I love them for every day life, and that I want my wedding shoes to be something I will wear again…  I am not sure how the color will work with my dress. They are a greyish gold, gold being the color I decided went best with my dress (did you know that 90% of gold shoes are hideous?!) and grey being one of our colors… We will see. They are safely in their box with the receipt incase they don’t work out.

you haven’t done me wrong yet!

Ok blogging world, I need your help. I am looking for flat cards in this color:

Marigold, mustard… this one is from Mountaincow.com and is called saffron. Unfortunately they only offer it in a light weight. I need something at least 80lb. I have googled everything I can think of and just can’t find that color! If you have seen it or know of a great paper place, please leave a link, I would be very very grateful!

giving thanks

My Thanksgiving weekend included:

-uncle falling off the roof (he is alive, just very very bruised :) )

-dress fitting with Mehtab (thanks for the recommendations, she is great!)

-seeing a woman stuff a balloon into the trashcan at the starbucks drive through

-mailing off our Save The Dates

-buying my first ever pink peonies! who would have known they would be in season in late November?

Pictures to come.

Hope yours was exciting too :)

done!

Woooo Hooooo!  We finished our save the dates! Here is a little photo montage of the final product :)

The Save The Dates themselves. Paper bought at Paper Source, printed using my handy Gocco and white ink. I wish that the white would have printed a little whiter, but am overall happy with how they turned out :)

The assembly table. I used a marigold colored textured paper I found at Michael’s as the envelope liners. They were a bit thick, but with a nice ruler and my bone folder (yay martha!) they foldered over nicely. We used double sided tape to attach the liners. Glue works as well, but can come out bubbly sometimes, especially if you use a thin paper.

My youngest sister Megan (and bm) happily assembling them. (She was happy, I had just made us pancakes bacon and eggs :) )

A close up. I went to Office Max to buy a sealer thingy, and the lady gave me these cheap just add water ones… let’s just say I totally thought I was going to end up like Susan from Seinfeld.

All finished! Well, except for those top two… which still need addresses… (ahem, bryan) :)  I would have liked to use vintage stamps, but couldn’t easily find a stamp store where they sold face value stamps, and I am scared of ebay, so I just used the heart stamp they have at the post office right now. I also hand addressed them myself. Not the nicest looking, but more personal than a label. With that said, I love me some labels, and hopefully will use some on the invitations, I just couldn’t find any I wanted to use on these :)

Whew! All done, and I am so so happy with them! We will get them out into the mail on Friday and I will go ahead and say that I hope people contact us with compliments :) I’m not gonna lie.  I know that DIY invitations are not for everyone, but if you are confident in your design skills, I would say to go for it. We spent maybe $50 on 45 save the dates, including the postage. Not bad :)

I hope you all have a wonderful wonderful thanksgiving! I won’t be posting tomorrow, but possibly on Friday. I have my first dress fitting that morning so I will let you know how it goes :)

lovely

Sorry for the lack of posts today, the save the date assembling went very well! All i need is a few more stamps and one of those sealer thingies so I don’t have to lick all of the envelopes :) Until I upload all my pictures, I will leave you with this craft idea from Martha Stewart today. Wouldn’t these be lovely lining the aisles at a fall ceremony?

gocco round dos

Tonight’s post is later than normal, but it will take place of my early morning post on Wednesday. I have wed.-fri. off of work so tomorrow my younger sister is coming over for some pancakes and envelope liner assembling! I did give up on designing my own (B and I just couldn’t agree on the ‘perfect’ one) so we are using some awesome textured marigold colored paper I had bought at michael’s during the friends and family event.

Tonight I gocco’d our return address on the Save the Date envelopes. The mustard color looks to be a little glittery… but we will see once it dries if that goes away :) You can see on the overview shot a little mock up of the finished look :)

*interruption: Bryan just brought me home an apple pie from McDonalds. Best. Fiance. Ever.

On to the images. I will be back tomorrow afternoon with progress pictures!!
