17 weeks

- According to my pregnancy app my baby is now about 5 ounces and can detect sounds like my heartbeat and the sound of my voice as it resonates through the body. (In case you are interested, I am using the pregnancy app Sprout, which cost $9.99 but it has been well worth it! It has the weekly updates, some of which are in 3D, it has notes on the mothers status each week and tools like an appointment planner/questionnaire, contraction timer and weight gain tracker.)
- At my 16 week appointment last week we were able to hear the heartbeat again and I got a prescription for my lovely pregnancy skin. Clear skin here I come!
- I officially have all of my energy back. Why hello there Mr. 10:00 PM.
- Last night I tried on every dress I own and am happy to say that most still fit and some even look cuter with the belly.
- We set up my 20 week appointment which is the BIG one where we get to find out the gender. I am counting down the days!
- I bought a prenatal yoga video last week. Kind of granola but it is better than nothing.
- No cravings yet, but I am still super hungry all of the time. Speaking of eating… I think I have some oreos calling my name.

walmart?
We have had a hard time finding a modern looking crib. We want something white and not too girly or elaborate since we don’t know the gender yet and we aren’t super elaborate people. Try going to babies-r-us and finding something not elaborate. Impossible. (Not that those cribs aren’t lovely, gorgeous even, they just aren’t for us.) So in the midst of this crib dilemma I have spotted a few perfect cribs that are both from… wait for it… Walmart. I know. Walmart.
Not sure if I like the Parklane or the Olivia better, but both will do, and at under $300 each I would happily take either one!

a happy town
This is the little fishing town of Crail, Scotland. The first thing I noticed was the bunting that was from one side of the town to the next. Such a happy little town!

cath and lonny
One of my favorite pages from the latest issue of Lonny:

Recently while in Scotland they were having a sale at Cath Kids and I picked up the sweetest duck top for our little babe. Gender neutral, of course!

16 weeks

Today marks week 16! As my sister put it tonight… almost half way there! I definitely noticed the bump grow this past week, going from “Heather has really let herself go” to “You ask her if she’s pregnant. No you ask her.” Luckily I told everyone at work a while ago so no issues there. I have noticed more energy in the last few weeks, which is nice, but I am still hungry all of the time and still breaking out (ugh). We will have a check up in a few days but we won’t get to find out the gender until week 20. I can not wait to get started on nursery planning, mini-clothes shopping and of course sewing. I don’t think I will go crazy with that though, maybe a few blankets, a few bibs, if it’s a girl then a few dresses, nothing too crazy.
Anyone else pregnant out there? Any questions or perhaps some advice?? I need all of the help I can get!
Yay babies!

Ireland
Here are a few pictures from my trip to Ireland. We stayed in Dublin for 3 days, one of which was spent in County Wicklow visiting family members on Bryan’s side that we had never met before. It was a very cool experience. I think that next time we go to Ireland we won’t do Dublin, we will stay in the south and west where it is a bit more country and green.

I’ll also be posting pictures of the Scotland portion of our trip this week!

I’m back!
Well, Bryan and I arrived home last night at 11 pm after almost 24 hours of traveling. To get from Inverness, Scotland to our little beach town in California we took a taxi, a bus, a shuttle and three planes. Very tiresome but we are happy to be home where the sun is shining and the ice is plentiful! I wanted to pop in to say hello and to mention one of my biggest regrets about our trip: not going into the TopShop in Edinburgh to check out their maternity section! My sisters went and told me about it but by that time it was too late as we were headed off to another part of the country the next day. Checking out their website I am now beyond bummed that I missed it. Not that I would fit into them quite yet, here are two dresses that I totally would have snatched up:
